Cook up a storm
There’s more to Middle Eastern fare than mixed grills, flatbread and hummus. Despite the fact that most Arabic restaurants serve up similar menus, local cuisines across the region differ widely, with flavours, ingredients and influences varying from one country to the next. Learning to cook a traditional Arabic meal, therefore, can mean many things. In Morocco, it might mean a rich tagine served with fragrant couscous, while in the Levant it could mean making a mezze feast.
Adventurous chefs looking to master some of the classic dishes that make Middle Eastern fare so diverse and delicious can enrol in a cooking class at Lana’s Partiperfect in Abu Dhabi. Choose from a variety of menus, including the Moroccan menu, and learn to create a typical North African feast, including chicken bastilla pie followed by roasted beef with olives and tangy citrus couscous.
Another class focuses on Middle Eastern cuisine in general and covers highlights such as kibbeh and Umm Ali. It’s not just Arabian cuisine. There’s also a dedicated session in bread making covering different loaves from around the world, while another class specializes in perfecting a series of curries from regions around the subcontinent.
A minimum of six people per group is required and prices vary from class to class.
