The spot that makes you forget you live in the desert

Sometimes, you simply need a fix of coffee to make your day. The shot we just enjoyed had so much to offer we can’t believe we have missed this before.

Next time you drive along Khaleej Al Arabi Road and are not in a hurry, make sure you stop by Al Gurm, just after the ADNOC station when you drive towards Mussafah Bridge. Al Gurm Plaza is still under construction but we discovered that the tiny mall already has two cafes with fantastic outdoor spots overlooking the mangroves .

For our first venue, we opted for Rotana Cafe that had comfortable rattan chairs and two terraces that gave it a holiday vibe. With the mangroves facing the terrace, birds flying around and such a green landscape, it’s hard to believe you are in the middle of the desert 50 meters away from the highway! This is just an unbeatable view and its quite peaceful also.

We ordered a full breakfast with two cappuccinos (62 AED). The omelet came with vegetables and cheese, accompanied by sausages, bacon and a few raw vegetables and was served with a fresh orange juice. The breakfast was fresh and filling. We would have liked to also order a croissant or something sweet but they didn’t have any on the menu. So, although the menu could use some upgrading the view is outstanding and it is a charming gem worth checking out.
