The trendy breakfast combination of zucchini and oats is here to stay!
Hiding vegetables into breakfast is definitely a concept that we are into! When we started seeing the word zoats pop up all over our social media feed we had to investigate.
Zoats is the latest trend that is a combination of zucchini and oats. All you have to do is simply grate zucchini and add it to your bowl of oats.
Why? Because it is nutrient dense and will keep you fuller for much longer.
Zucchini, also known as courgette, is a low calorie vegetable that is full of goodness- and doesn’t add a strange flavor to the oats since it has a very neutral flavor. Rich in Vitamin A, zinc, omega fatty acids and much more it helps in promoting good health and even aids in losing weight. So, instead of adding other calorific ingredients to the oats, zucchini will instantly add bulk to the bowl (and of course a distinct green color).
Here is a simple recipe for Zoats to follow:
½ cup oats
½ zucchini shredded
200 ml almond milk (or any other milk of your choice)
Pinch of Himalayan salt
Pinch of cinnamon
Combine all the ingredients and cook on the stove till the oats are cooked. Take off the stove and let it cool down before you add the toppings of your choice and eat it.
Keeping this morning's ZOATS simple, and making them count by adding delicious and antioxidant-packed toppings. Dried Gogi berries, mulberries and no added sugar fruit balls made these zoats totally count. SIMPLE VANILLA ZOATS // serves one ?30g oats ?1/3 zucchini, finely grated ?1 cup water ?1 scoop vanilla vegan protein powder ?1 tsp stevia ?1 tsp maca powder (optional – great for hormone regulation) ?add to a pot the pats, zucchini and water ?simmer on medium heat for 3-5 minutes or until cooked ?add the extras and stir well ?serve and top with fresh or dried fruit ??
