The 2019 edition of Abu Dhabi Culinary Season runs from 14 November to 14 December
The Emirate-wide gastronomy festival, set to attract residents and international visitors alike, celebrates Abu Dhabi’s global food influences, world-class cuisine and celebrity chefs by hosting a series of foodie-centric events.
Abu Dhabi Culinary Season is a six-week celebration of the art and culture of food, focussing on the culinary diversity that helps make Abu Dhabi one of the most exciting places in the world to live and visit.
Michelin-starred Chefs Descend on the Capital for the Tastemasters Series
As part of Abu Dhabi Culinary Season, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has launched an exciting initiative where food-fans are able to interact and dine with the finest resident chefs across the city’s premium and fine-dining outlets. The Tastemasters Series brings the best culinary talent on the planet to the city to complement Abu Dhabi’s already world-class restaurants, and to give diners a chance to have a unique and innovative dining experience.
Michelin-starred chefs from around the world are coming to Abu Dhabi to serve up gastronomic excellence to residents and visitors alike. Organised by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi), the Tastemasters Series is set to run until December 14 celebrating Abu Dhabi’s outstanding dining offerings by hosting culinary masters in some of the city’s best restaurants.
Some of the renowned chefs who are showcasing their skills include:
- Liu Wai-Yeung from Hong-Kong (at Shangri-La Qaryat Al Beri’s Shang Palace from 21 – 23 November)
- Andrea Monesi from Italy (at the Grand Hyatt’s Verso restaurant from 19 – 23 November),
Matteo Rizzo, from Italy (at the Andaz Capital Gate Abu Dhabi’s 18 Degrees restaurant from 28 November – 2 December),
- and Paolo Cappuccio from Italy (at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche’s Parmigiana restaurant from 3 – 7 December).
On the 6th of December, Chef Paolo Cappuccio will be present at Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche. This internationally renowned Chef will grace the kitchen of Parmigiana alongside with its Executive Chef Rohan Patil to showcase a tantalizing menu inspired by Chef Paolo Cappuccio’s refined, new and bold creations that will be available for lunch and dinner.

The Chef’s Table Programme
While Abu Dhabi Culinary Season is a celebration of all things food, aiming to highlight the capital’s culinary diversity and world-class cuisines through a vibrant food festival, the Chef’s Table programme is designed to elevate the city’s stature on the global food scene, as the spotlight falls on Abu Dhabi’s very own resident culinary geniuses.
This programme provides spectacular dining opportunities for residents and visitors alike to explore a range of cuisine from the city’s top chefs in an interactive setting.
Some of the restaurants involved in this section include COYA, TAMBA, MARTABAAN, Teatro, Catch, Amerigos and many more.

“Abu Dhabi has a vibrant culinary scene, and our objective is to make the city aware of this,” said Ali Hassan Al Shaiba, Acting Executive Director of Tourism and Marketing at DCT Abu Dhabi. “Through the Chef’s Table programme, we want to put to the spotlight on the talented chefs behind these offerings.”
The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi has announced its partnership with The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi for the Abu Dhabi Culinary Season.
Running up until January 2020, with guest chefs from top hotels in the Far East, ‘Taste of Southeast Asia’ is an ongoing culinary festival at the resort, which brings dedicated menus of the best of traditional Asian cooking to Abu Dhabi. Sontaya, the award-winning Asian restaurant, will host the Indonesian leg of the ‘Taste of Southeast Asia’ series from December 9 to 13 as part of the Abu Dhabi Culinary Season’s Chef’s Table experiences with a special menu by Executive Sous Chef Wisnu Adiyatma, who will be visiting from Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa.
Bringing the local cuisine of his homeland to Abu Dhabi, Chef Wisnu has designed a limited-time menu that will highlight the culinary traditions of Indonesia with signature dishes such as the Ayam Balado, Bebek Betutu and Nasi Goreng Kampung.
