Looking for a healthier diet this year from sunset until dawn?
If you are fasting this Ramadan 2016, read on as we have just collected some useful information about a healthy Iftar and Suhoor option that can be delivered right to your doorstep.
Keep it Simple is a vegan and gluten-free delivery food company launched in the UAE a year ago that proposes an interesting program called Sunset Sunrise. Helen is the nutritionist who designed this hassle-free program that can be booked for a minimum of 5 or 7 days, starting from Sundays (Friday at 12pm noon is the last moment to register every week).
Delivered daily in the evenings this program will help customers rehydrate themselves and maintain slow-release energy, while supporting their weight management and still maintain their social lifestyle during the Holy Month. Based on portion sizes rather than on calorie count, it will help provide a feeling of wellness, while avoiding unstable blood sugar level, excessive hunger, that may lead to more fatigue and health problems in the end.
Curious about this fancy vegan and gluten-free program, we met the company to grab more information and got to try some samples also.
So, every day, customers first break their fast with the hydration drink (infused lemon and lime water) and a date based snack such as a date apéritif, date canapé or date break. The date aperitif prepared with dates, almonds, cinnamon, vanilla, oats and coconut oil was our favorite.
The box also includes a light soup with vegetables and proteins along with a healthy salad such as the twisted tabouleh or fancy fattoush. Every day, there is a different vegetable based juice to enjoy throughout the evening such as the mint green we tried-it was a mix of lettuce, cucumber, mint, lime and apple.
The program also includes a suhoor meal that is a slow release energy breakfast style dish such as quinoa balls, tex-mex scrambled with tempeh – fermented soybean that is filled with probiotics which are known for their digestive properties-. We tried their Maca bowl that was tasty and filling. It was prepared with almond mylk, maca powder, avocado and fresh mixed berries.

This 5 Days Program costs 1,300 AED (1,500 AED for 7 days) and is designed for when the fasting routine is practised, whether during Ramadan or any time of the year.
Please note that delivery fees apply (+150 AED for the 5-day program and +175 AED for the 7-day program). You also have the option to go and collect your daily Sunset Sunrise box every day at The Third Place Café located close to the Corniche.
