Forget designer brands and grab some vintage trinkets
Feel like your home is lacking some personality, want to add a vintage and unique touch to it without spending a fortune? Whether you just arrived in Abu Dhabi or have been here for ages, there is an area worth checking out that we recently pinned and re-added on our radar : Mina Port Zayed.
The cool months in Abu Dhabi are actually an ideal excuse to go spend half a day outdoors, wandering along the outdoor shops and stalls at Mina Port Zayed (check the red pin on our location map below where we found all the various products mentioned in this article). Initially visiting as we were looking for Moroccan bedouin pots, we came back with a long wish list of goods that could fill any room of our home.
IN THE KITCHEN
From enamel trays to tefal cooking pans, quirky glasses, tea or coffee cups with a Middle Eastern vintage look, you will find aplenty different styles that give a unique touch to your interior. Plus your friends will beg you to get the address where you shopped these kitchen treasures. We also spotted an old fashioned food scale that gives a retro touch to the kitchen and these trendy colorful plastic boxes to get your utility room fancy and organized.
IN THE GARDEN
Tired of your boring plastic flower pots? Check the currently trending woven palm tree baskets with pom poms (red, blue, or green… your choice).
If you are still looking to get your outdoor lounge organized, you will find a huge choice of bedouin sofa beds and cushions… It was the first time we also noticed some old fashioned cushions you see from time to time in traditional Emirati cafes (such as Meylas in Al Muneraa for example).
HOSTING A PARTY SOON?
You will find a huge range of fun accessories that will make your party crockery quite unique. From bulbs usable as cocktail glasses to neon metal boxes of different sizes usable as party dish holders, we promise the hardest part is to not come back with a fully loaded car!
IN THE LIVING ROOM
While some of you may want the vintage looking radios and speakers, others will come back home with a carpet or a colorful hand painted metal box. We were actually very surprised by the quantity and varied options there!
To make the most of your journey there, don’t hesitate to grab a few friends along as we promise the experience will be much more fun. You are surrounded by so many utensils, trinkets and decor objects that each of you will be sure to discover and get different items that suit your taste and your home.
