Qasr Al Hosn Exhibition is not to be missed !

No matter, how long you have lived in the UAE, and especially Abu Dhabi, this exhibition is a must-see this year. Take your kids, friends or family along as we promise you will learn a lot about the city you live in.

The Topic?

“This exhibition tells the story of a city and the people who have made it their home. Inextricably linked to this story is Qasr Al Hosn, the first permanent building on the island, a witness to the island’s origins and evolution and a powerful symbol of the ever developing city: Abu Dhabi”.

 

 

Divided in 10 different rooms, expect to spend at least an hour as there is much to see. This exhibition is located in The Qasr Al Hosn Visitor Centre. It is a modern building we adore visiting located beside Qasr Al Hosn (image below).

 

 

 

 

From old images to objects of the daily life used by Abu Dhabi residents in the old days (for pearl diving) , it is detailed and uses different media (photos, sketches, maps, videos, 3D modelling, objects). We also love to learn the names in Arabic and meaning of different objects and words referring to the daily life in the city from old days to today.

What we most loved:

– It’s our first time visiting an exhibition about Abu Dhabi that focuses on people, the changes they had to go through throughout the centuries and how in the end Abu Dhabi evolved throughout time. It celebrates the Emirati people alongside the origins and growth of Abu Dhabi.

– The room number 10 ‘A City Transformed’ showcases aplenty photos between 1940s to nowadays. We already had forgotten that Emirates Palace was finished in 2005. Time just flies. You also get to see many different photos of buildings that reflect the ‘modern architecture‘ of Abu Dhabi, with buildings you have stepped into and others not yet discovered.

– The last room entitled the future focuses on how the actual Qasr Al Hosn will soon be transformed and will evolve into a vibrant new social and cultural destination.

– Lastly, the masterpiece of the exhibition, in our opinion, is in this last room of the exhibition where you have a 3D model that represents Qasr Al Hosn plot, surrounded by the city buildings. Just press the button to start your journey, that will last for 2 or 3 minutes, you get to visualize the story of the city. Go and watch for yourself.
