Free Family Film Screenings Over Eid
For Eid this year, Louvre Abu Dhabi celebrates with a series of five animated movies inspired by universal themes of unity, family and tolerance from 6-8 June in the auditorium. The series, curated by Rinku Awtani, is linked to the current exhibition at the Children’s Museum: Animals, Between Real and Imaginary.
Included in the line-up is Little Chicken’s Egg-cellent Adventure, Nocturna, Beyond Beyond and My Neighbor Totoro, a masterpiece from Japan’s beloved animator Hayo Miyazaki. With his immersive visually stunning moving images, he tells the story of two young girls who find their new home in a magical forest inhabited by a menagerie of mystical creatures called Totoros.

Thematic screenings addressing the importance and role of photography
In conjunction with the exhibition ‘Photographs: An Early Album of the World’, Louvre Abu Dhabi will feature a series of thematic film screenings curated by Hind Mezaina, addressing the role and importance of photography as a tool to document stories and history of the world we live in. Included in the line-up is Dawson City:
Frozen Time on 15 June,
Manufactured Landscapes on 22 June
The Eye of Istanbul on 29 June.
This exhibition entitled ‘Photographs: An Early Album of the World’ is on view through 13 July. It is Louvre Abu Dhabi’s fourth international exhibition of the cultural season A World of Exchanges.
It explores the development of photography in its first years of existence, in a rare display of more than 250 of the earliest images taken by travellers and sailors in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, India and the Americas.

Additionally, the museum holds a two-day masterclass exploring a variety of pre-digital photographic techniques on 7-8 June and 5-6 July at 3:00 – 6:00 pm. Price per ticket AED 84 for adults, AED 52.50 for ages 16-22 and Art Club members per day.
+ Daily Mini Tours
The exhibition also hosts 30-minute Mini Tours daily at 11:30 am and 3:30 pm. The Mini Tours are complimentary as part of the museum’s general admissions ticket.
