Unlimited beverages, kids activities and seven pools – something for everyone at this resort in RAK!

If you are looking for the complete family summer staycation, we’ve found the perfect place! Doubletree Hilton Resort and Spa is located on the manmade Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah (RAK).

As we drove through the island, we loved how it had a real holiday feel, with streets lined with palm trees and fairy lights, quite a contrast to the concrete highways and roads we drove through, to get to RAK.

When we headed to the check in desk, we were greeted with complimentary cookies –  which were a welcome sugar rush after our long drive from Abu Dhabi!

We were allocated a room in The Bay Club villas.  The rooms here all face the beach and the resort’s seashore.  They also have some exclusive amenities and services including access to the Bay Club restaurant, free access to the ladies only spa and the infinity pool.  The resort is huge, so we were taken to our room by club car, but there was the option of driving and parking our car right outside the villa.

If you are looking for a resort with a pool, you won’t go wrong here.  It has seven – yes, seven! – outdoor heated pools and an indoor ladies only pool.  For kids there is a brilliant pirate boat aqua zone with a variety of waterslides and water fountains, as well as an outdoor playground area and a indoor kids club, with climbing walls, TV’s, video consoles, alongside arts and crafts.  Their 600-metre beach also offers water-sports.

If you like to eat/drink a lot on your hols, there are more than ten places to grab a bite.  On arrival at the hotel, you are able to upgrade to one of a number of all inclusive packages – so you don’t have to worry about food or drink for the rest of your trip.

We tried out Meze, a new Turkish restaurant that didn’t disappoint.  The flavours were really authentic and the dishes were presented beautifully, complementing the up-market décor.

We also experienced a meal at Vespa Italian restaurant and whilst the dishes were nice we felt they could have featured more traditional flavours. The atmosphere was little quiet for younger kids, but they did have a kid’s menu and colouring activities.

By night, the resort is beautifully lit and it is very relaxing to walk around.  The kids club offers activities including dancing competitions to entertain the little ones, pre or post dinner.
