A new organic supermarket to shop the healthy way

If you are already familiar with Organic Foods and Café in Abu Dhabi and love visiting the healthy shelves in supermarkets, then you will definitely go and check our latest find.

Mawasim became a familiar brand in the last two years as first they have a weekly organic fruits and vegetables market at The Mall at World Trade Center Abu Dhabi (read our article here) and secondly their organic harvest is now available in most supermarkets across Abu Dhabi.

They have just launched a brand new large organic store located in the Mushrif area (check our maps above for the exact location).

We were among the first customers to discover this new gem in the city and we were pleasantly surprised with the variety of supplies and brands they carry.

The store is divided into different corners such as fruits &vegetables, oil &vinegar, frozen products, bakery, meat and poultry, dairy and you’ll also find there your usual grocery items from tea, breakfast cereals, pasta, rice, kid’s food and snacks, drinks and more. The range of items is really interesting with plenty of organic brands handpicked around the world that we are not yet familiar with.

For our first visit, here are some of the items that gained our attention.

We picked some purple carrots that aren’t easy to find in the city. Croissants at the bakery were fresh and tasty and priced at 4.50AED only which looks fair.

The store carries a lot of organic and varied drinks (organic coconut water, coconut milk…) and healthy organic bars from the brand LoveRaw such as coconut and chia, cacao & maca, rosehip & lemon, cacao & spirulina…

It was also our first time getting a chance to taste Birch Water, a superdrink that has been the latest craze worldwide. Produced with birch sap collected from birch trees at the end of the winter, it is claimed to help cleanse liver, treat headaches, dandruff and more.

In the dairy section, it was our first time in Abu Dhabi buying Tidjoöri Tofu butter we had had a crush for in Dubai, along with different vegan dishes by Tidjoöri.

In the snacks section, we also picked Organic Spiced Fig Flax Rolls by LifeFood and there were different other flavors.

In the dry fruits and seeds corner, we got some organic apricot kernels sweet that will make a change from our usual daily ration of nuts.

If you like tasting new oils and vinegars, you’ll be delighted with their corner where you can taste them before purchasing them. A vendor will then fill up bottles of oil or vinegar in your desired size which is convenient and allows you to vary from your usual habbits.

These excellent oils and vinegars have been available in Dubai for a while now and we are happy to source them on the Abu Dhabi shelves (read our article here). From flax oil, black cumin, wild rose, argan or avocado, there is an extensive palette. While oils are stored in black jars, flavored vinegars (apple, date, fig…) are stored in wooden rounded shaped barrels.

We could also find there raw organic black and white sesame tahini, organic bee pollen, different original organic green teas with cucumber, ginger, orange blossom or coconut by Health & Heather, flavored kale crunch by Muncherie, green coffee, chia seed oil… and much more.

One advice, go and check by yourselves as the list is definitely too long and the visit worth it.

The supermarket is open daily from 9am to 9pm.
