This lunch at the Jumeirah Saadiyat Island Resort offers serious holiday vibes

In the mood to treat yourself to a fabulous meal with a view? We are just back from our first visit at Jumeirah at Saadiyat Island Resort and the least we can say is that within two hours, we fully unplugged from the daily routine, work stress and almost felt like hotel guests!

For this first visit, we were kindly invited to visit and experience MARE MARE, a brand new homegrown Italian cuisine concept at this new hotel we were craving to go check out after sharing with our readers the hotel features. Given the huge response we got from that article, we bet you are quite intrigued too by this new resort. So read on, as we have a review to share and it is all about the casual Mare Mare restaurant today.

MARE MARE restaurant is located outdoors, by the family pool and facing the beach. We were actually caught by surprise – in a good way – as Mare Mare is totally open outdoors, with a shaded roof for letting the breeze pass through. Visitors can either opt for tables facing the sea, grab a dish at the bar counter or book a more private cabana, which by the way, looks gorgeous. The holiday style decor is all in tones of white and beige, and we are totally into it!

Italian Chef Simone Federici, originates from the Abruzzo region – famous for its truffles, chestnuts and more – is the head chef of this new restaurant proposing Italian cuisine at its best.

The menu is definitely diverse, from Crudi bar, cold and warm starters, includes a large selection of affordable pasta, risotto and pizzas – their dough is homemade and fermented for 48 hours- and of course, fish and meat options. The dish pricing also varies-each section includes a few dishes below 100AED and count a few hundred Dirhams for more exclusive and rare dishes.

There were many options that caught our attention but in the end we picked the signature dishes that the Mare Mare team recommended.

First came the Crudo di Gambero rosso di Mazara (175AED); these raw Mazara prawns are served topped with black truffles shaves, Himalayan salt and Saffron mayonnaise. The look of this elegant starter will ravish Instagrammers and we definitely enjoyed the fresh raw prawns to start off our lunch.

Our guest went for the Mare Mare seafood salad (95AED). Generous, colourful, it is a great option at lunchtime – either as a starter or even as a main – grilled prawns, grilled squid and a variety of cooked and raw vegetables, including carrots, zucchini, broccolini and Italian salad. The raspberry dressing paired perfectly with the seafood and vegetables.

For the mains, we ordered the chargrilled langoustines that came with a salad bowl and a thyme-infused butter sauce, priced at 210AED. Once again, we were all for the innovative design of this dish and really enjoyed every single bite. Our partner ordered the pan-fried veal cutlet with a Milanese style priced at 195AED. Make sure you have a large appetite if you go for this main, as the size of the Milanese style cutlet is very impressive!

For the desserts, the Italian Chef proposed us to share one of his signature iced creations, the marron glacé was topped with candied chunks of chestnuts and served  with a warm chocolate sauce (55AED). An indulgent dessert that we hadn’t had for ages and we enjoyed every last bite.

We were definitely seduced by the outdoor restaurant setting, the menu that brings a lot of options from casual Italian dishes to more refined tasting options, served in a relaxed setting.

The views over the sea are just incredible, as guests have the pool at the forefront and the beach and sea in the background!

A new gem to try at Saadiyat Island.

Jumeirah SIR is located beside Saadiyat Beach Club. The last tip, if you are a photo addict, make sure your battery is fully charged as the hotel lobby is just incredible as is the decor of White restaurant. If we hadn’t to be back at work, we could have spent hours getting the perfect shot of these restaurants and hotel lobby.
