Our first experience at Nattas Abu Dhabi
After opening their first shops in Sharjah and Dubai at Global Village, we are delighted Nattas made their way to Abu Dhabi.
We discovered this Portuguese spot in Sharjah through Instagram and were hooked with the floor tiles and typical facade – old fashioned veranda with an Art Deco style – before visiting.
If you missed this new cafe, it is located where Baguette de France used to be, in the Al Nahyan area, opposite Bloomsbury’s and beside Hwy 55 Burgers spot (see location map below).
The cafe is wide and cosy, with the old school but now trendy grey and white ceramic tiles, fado music in the background, nice photos of the yellow tram in Lisboa and a large TV screen showcasing the landmarks and Portuguese culture.
For our first visit, we decided to explore the breakfast menu and opted for the Portuguese breakfast and the Eggs Benedict (40AED). The Nattas Portuguese breakfast is fairly priced at 48 AED and includes a large cafe, a fresh orange juice, a warm and toasted turkey and cheese sandwich and of course a Pastel de Nata.
While the Pastel de Nata was perfect to our taste – a creamy and flaky custard tart topped with ice sugar and cinnamon. The warm sandwich was good as were the Eggs Benedict, but both lacked that Portuguese flare.
After glancing at the lunch menu, we feel like getting there back soon to experience a more typical taste of Portugal.
The menu includes different promising dishes from the sea such as Clam Bulhao Pato, Shrimp A la Guillo, Codfish and shrimp patties in the starters section or Portuguese Brás Salt Cod, Nattas Codfish or Lagareiro Octopus.
The traditional Pastel de Nata are sold by piece or in larger quantities.
