Our wholesome Greek experience at Eat Greek Kouzina
Brace yourself if you are into Greek cuisine as our favorite Greek spot in Dubai has made its way to Abu Dhabi.
Located inside the Galleria Mall beside Bentley Bistro and Bar, Eat Greek Kouzina opened its doors in September 2017 in Abu Dhabi. The restaurant has a cozy feel to it and looks like a ‘Meditterranean taverna‘ with rustic wooden chairs and tables, fresh lemons, vinegar and olive oil flasks displayed on each table and Greek tunes playing in the background.
As we have already visited Eat Greek Kouzina in Dubai several times, we were familiar with the restaurant concept and already had some favorites in mind to order. However, Boris from the restaurant team made us discover some new specialties the night we visited that we have now added to our long list of favorites.
Experience an authentic and wholesome Greek cuisine
You should start with a mix of dips that come with freshly baked in the oven pita bread. Their tzatziki, eggplant dip and spicy Feta cheese are served in small pots and are perfect to share with a mocktail or cocktail as an appetizer.
Their grilled octopus is one of the signature starters and it is unbelievable how soft and flavorful the dish tastes. Chef Theo visited our table and shared with us that the octopus is cooked sous vide for more than four hours before being grilled a few seconds to give it that smokey and aromatic flavor. It is served upon an eggplant mousse and fresh salad on the side.
As the restaurant is licensed, the menu proposes some Greek specialties that are worth checking out. The Flaming Cheese Saganaki – pan melted over fire in ouzo or fresh lemon – probably was our favorite. This mixed goat and cow cheese is blazed at your table with ouzo – a Greek aniseed-flavoured spirit- and comes with fig jam served on the side. The sweet jam matches perfectly with the cheese and we really enjoyed that hinted aniseed flavor at the back.
Moving to the mains, if you love grilled meat, go for the mixed grill. This dish setting wins us over every single time as the different skewers – chicken, beef, lamb and mix of vegetables – come nicely displayed to the table with homemade fries (photo below). Priced at 175AED, you can easily share this main with a guest. Just order a fresh and crunchy Greek salad on the side and you will be transported to the Mediterranean sea.
The menu also includes appealing vegetarian options such as the Gemista (traditional Greek stuffed peppers and tomatoes with rice and herbs (75 AED) or their melt in the mouth moussaka delight (89AED).
To end on a sweet note, Chef Theo proposed we try the Greek specialty pastry called the orange pie fairly priced at 28AED. Prepared with crushed filo pastry, it looked like a homemade pie, and had a very moist and airy texture and paired well with the vanilla ice cream.
Our overall experience
We felt like the pricing of the dishes is fair and we once again had a wonderful evening at Eat Greek Kouzina. This is the kind of restaurant you will get addicted to once you discover it, because of its unique homely vibe and great food.
If you wish to try some beverages, the menu includes various mocktails and cocktails (check the images below) named after different Greek cities and there are also Greek grapes (red, white and rosé).
We would highly advise you book before as it tends to get busy, especially on the weekends. If you come with a large group of friends, their long communal table close to the bar is the perfect setting.
We cannot wait for the cooler evenings to be back as Eat Greek Kouzinahas outdoor terrace facing the sea.
