A great Iftar to try if you’re looking for a casual Iftar with great value for money

We headed over for Iftar at Khayal restaurant inside Marriott Al Forsan this weekend and were surprised to see how busy it was.

During the Holy Month, Marriott Al Forsan has extended its usual capacity by building a Ramadan tent adjacent to the all-day dining restaurant Khayal, so there is room to welcome more guests and offer buffet tables across both the tent and the restaurant.

We were kindly invited by Marriott Al Forsan to check out the Iftar buffet this year and had a great experience as guests are really spoilt for choice.

The restaurant decor and setting immediately make guests feel relaxed as they can opt for either a restaurant table or go for the comfy sofas that have a homely vibe. The service is impressive and the waiters are very attentive-making sure glasses are filled, plates cleaned and checking you spend the perfect evening at their venue.

From sushi and maki corner to Thai and Asian delicacies – with various dim sum, spring rolls, or even Arabic mezze, there is so much to choose from to break your fast that the hardest is to make better choices in order to not over-indulge. The food display is appealing with accessories and crockeries pairing with the regions of the world where the dishes are coming from. They even have a Mexican section filled with nachos, tacos, chili con carne, guacamole and more.

The selection for the mains is also impressive ranging from Indian to grilled meats and flavored fish or pastas, pizzas and more. We especially enjoyed the colorful and flavorful Indonesian Seafood Curry.

If there are cheese lovers around, make sure to visit their cheese station and don’t miss their glass fridge filled with a larger selection including brie with truffles, Vieux Pané and many more tasty kinds of cheese.

Khayal also proposes some Ramadan delicacies such as the whole lamb Ouzi and a large section of the desserts is dedicated to Arabic sweets. All the kids loved the cotton candy station and we have to confess we also stopped at the Chocolate Shawarma station: the “shawarma sweet wraps” were actually crepes filled with chocolate and cherry jam-this is just as enjoyable for the adults as it is for the kids.

The different large nougat cakes are one of the highlights you should make sure to try as we never see them around apart from Ramadan.

If you are looking for lighter options, then the soups, gorgeous salads and cut fruits are ideal. Don’t miss the selection of different dates and dried fruits neatly displayed as if you were visiting a market stall.

This Iftar is priced at AED 210 per person and AED 90 for kids aged between 6 and 12. It runs daily between sunset and 9.30 pm.
