The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort is the ideal place to take some time off from the daily grind.
In the mood to take a night off and thoroughly pamper yourself? Saadiyat Island is a short drive away from the city center and quite frankly an ideal escape from the hectic city life. In fact, we love it so much that we are always looking for an opportunity to spend the weekend there. Lucky for us that we were recently invited to spend a night at luxurious The St Regis Saadiyat Resort.
The elegant hotel offers direct access to the sandy white beach and the Saadiyat Beach Golf.
This sprawling resort features 376 guestrooms, all with private terraces that offer magnificent panoramic views of the turquoise-blue sea, golf course, or resort gardens. Spaces range from the intimate to the grand, from rooms of 55 sqm with 10 sqm balconies to the majestic Royal Suite, a 2,000 sqm lavishly appointed duplex that features five bedrooms, a private pool and a spacious, ocean-facing terrace. The 24-hour butler service will ensure that all your needs are met graciously.
The dining options at the hotel are exemplary.
If you want to spend the entire day at the pool, then the light snacks and food are the perfect meal. We tried the burger and the smoked salmon sandwich. Both items were freshly made and accompanied with a side of French fries-making it a highly satisfying meal. We noticed almost everyone on the pool chairs was enjoying the guacamole and chips with a side of coconut water. Clearly, it’s the preferred choice and crowd-pleaser.
For dinner, we walked over to Sontaya, a Pan-Asian restaurant offering authentic and flavorful dishes. Our order of crab cakes was an absolute hit and the rice paper springs were another refreshing starter. In the mains, the seafood stir fry and beef panang curry were fragrant and vibrant in taste, color and texture.
Post-dinner it is almost mandatory to stop by Buddha Bar. The day-to-night destination is the fourth of its kind in the world and the first one to be as a permanent destination. The relaxed and laid-back atmosphere make it the ideal place to just sit back and relax while enjoying the music.
Don’t miss out on breakfast served at Olea, the airy and spacious Mediterranean restaurant overlooking the beach. The eclectic buffet starts by 6 am every morning and offers every type of breakfast staple-from a mix of Asian dishes to the perfect full English breakfast, it satisfies all ages and taste buds.
Focused on being completely family-friendly, facilities at the hotel include the Iridium Spa, Sandcastle Club for children, tennis and squash courts and the 3,500 square-meter St. Regis Athletic Club. There are three outdoor pools including one that is adults only.
