The kingdom of haberdashery
If you want to let out the creativity you have inside, Malik is the right place. Located close to the Madinat Zayed Shopping Centre (aka Gold Souk of Abu Dhabi), it is a two floors tiny building crammed of sewing accessories at the ground floor and of textiles at the first floor.
From essentials like thimbles and thread (personally, never seen so many colors!) to row of ribbons, knitting wools, sequins, beads, buttons, zippers in different sizes. It is a real treasure trove!
If you are an embroidery lover, you must stop by this shop and you will be astonished by the large range of trimming they have, divided by color and fabric. You can easily find hundred varieties of white or black lace hems, there is enough for everyone!
Walking up the stairs through the pink handrail we reach the first floor where rolls of textiles are squeezed in big boxes or piled up on shelves. You can find a wide range of materials here, from basic cotton to embroidered lace.
The prices vary according to the fabric, but, in general, they are quite affordable. Keep in mind that bargaining is highly recommended.
