WE TRIED: THE REMEDE CUSTOMISED FACIAL AT THE ST REGIS CORNICHE

Here is another iconic facial treatment worth a try at Remede Spa in Abu Dhabi

Love getting pampered and experiencing different facial techniques? Then this is a good reason why you should give this customised facial at Remede Spa at the St Regis Corniche a try. Ours was magic!

Upon arrival, we were first welcomed with a nice treat – red grape fruit juice and dried cranberries to enjoy – while filling a form so that our spa therapist may know more about us (allergies, concerns, tiredness… ).

We then followed our therapist for a quick tour of the impressive Remede Spa facilities – cosy ladies grooming and individual comfy changing rooms, sauna, jacuzzy, relaxation lounge that customers are welcome to enjoy before and after their spa treatment and much more.

Once dressed in our robe and slippers, our therapist Shandree led us to the spa room and briefly explained how she would conduct our facial step by step, insisting that it would be designed to address our individual needs and concerns. A little plus that we highly appreciated.

Comfortably settled on our bed with a golden roof above our head, golden and white mosaics on the walls, a low relaxing music on, we were ready for the experience.

After a thorough cleansing and skin analysis, Shandree decided to opt for a microdermabrasion using crystals. As this is a deep exfoliation, she warned us she would check how our skin was reacting all along and indeed everything went well. During this step, you feel suction on your skin as it removes all the dead skin cells and vacuums them away. Usually helping reduce fine lines, refine pores, it also leaves the face soft and smooth. If your skin is too sensitive, she may also go for a different and lighter exfoliation technique.

After a second gentle cleansing, she applied an oxygen cream that some may find tingly. After a few minutes, she covered our face with a gauze and applied warm paraffin on it (instead of the steam to open our pores) while massaging our scalp.

We were soon ready for the extraction and again, the esthetician used a different technique instead of the traditional manual extraction. Shandree explained us the tool used for the extraction was far more effective and needed to be done by experienced therapists only. A bit more painful than the usual extraction but as the result is there, we are ready for that 5 minutes of pain next time we visit Remede Spa!

Right after comes the mask and depending on your skin, Remede Spa has four different options to recommend: anti-wrinkle gel mask, sensitive cream mask, instant light and lighting and brightening peel-off masks.

Cold and refreshing, we just loved the contact of the lighting and brightening mask on our face that our therapist covered with a brush. After a couple of minutes, she magically peeled it off our face as if our second skin was removed!

Next step is the oxygen fusion… After applying an activator on our face, Shandree gently made three different rounds of oxygen over our forehead, cheeks and chin and you feel like a refreshing and vitalizing breeze on you. A step filling our skin with vitamin A, C and D which is said to be ideal for a healthy glow.

Last but not least, Shandree applied a Remede Spa serum, eye care and moisturiser with SPF 30.

This treatment also includes a gentle foot massage and welcome warm foot paraffin treatment that helps boost the blood circulation. A little extra that makes you feel pampered for the day.

What we really liked

– the variety of techniques used in this customised facial combining microdermabrasion, paraffin, peel-off mask, oxygen fusion, ‘magic’ extraction tool …
– the expertise and professionalism of our therapist and the face massaging with relaxing circular movements,
– definitely our tight, plumped, younger and healthy looking complexion the following days after our treat,
– the incredible 180 degrees view you are given to enjoy at the relaxation lounge – from Jumeirah Etihad Towers, Emirates Palace, Marina Mall, Corniche to Lulu Island – while sipping a complimentary tea from the spa menu along with fresh dates and nuts.

Actually, there is nothing we didn’t like…

Remede Spa is located at the 3rd floor inside the St Regis Hotel. Another convenient thing is you can access the Remede Spa either through the hotel or just from the Nation Towers mall as there is a direct connection between the mall and the hotel.

This facial is priced at 510 AED for 60 minutes. You can also book it for 30 minutes (350AED) or 90 minutes (715AED).
