A new venue for outdoor evenings in Abu Dhabi
If you want to chill outdoors and gather with friends in a cosy setting, give a try to the recently opened Barfly by Buddha Bar in Abu Dhabi at Venitian Village.
Buddha Bar is popular hotspot in France and its founder Raymond Visan was a pioneer of the concept of mixing a high-end bar, restaurant and lounge with world influences in the most posh area of Paris, close to Champs-Elysées.
The brand has now expanded worldwide and kept this core concept in Abu Dhabi with an edgy bar and supper club experience called Barfly.
Book in advance one of their large cabanas overlooking Khor Al Maqtaa grand canal and facing Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, grab friends for a catch up night and Barfly will do the rest! At night, the setting is exquisite with the privacy of the cabana and lively atmosphere with the in-house DJ tunes at the background.
Barfly proposes an extensive range of both cocktails and mocktails that are worth discovering. Matthias Giroud who is the worldwide Executive Chef of Buddha Bar and regularly comes over, teaching and training the bartenders and also showcasing his creations to customers. Travelling the world to more than 20 outlets around the globe (from Caracas to Oslo, Singapore or Prague to name a few), he uses his traveling experiences in creating new mocktails and cocktails for you to discover on the menu.
We were a lucky few to attend a cocktail festival in Abu Dhabi and were surprised how he elaborates his creations as a chef would do, thinking about spices, taste combinations, playing around with cooking, and also firing ingredients. He also tends to develop and add to the menu a lot of mocktails s and the result is just delightful.
Visiting the spot recently for a birthday celebration, we first loved the lively atmosphere, and also discovered that Barfly proposes impressive high-end sushi and sashimi platters that are ideal for sharing some nibbles (400 AED for 30 pieces) while enjoying a drink.
We won’t wait long before heading back and discover more in depth their culinary menu that has a lot of Asian influences.
