Who knew that we had our own version of Global Village right here in Abu Dhabi! If you like digging for treasures, you will love our latest find; Antique Shop Museum.
Located in Tourist Club Area, this overladen store has been bringing little pieces of the world to Abu Dhabi for the past two years. Packed with trinkets, souvenirs and antiques from across the globe, this little gem is definitely the place to visit to add a little culture to your home.
Although you may find some things you like on the Ground Floor, we suggest heading straight downstairs where most of the souvenirs and gorgeous little pieces are stored, offering items from over 23 countries including India, Thailand, Indonesia, Nepal, Burma, Cambodia and Morocco.
Little items that grabbed our attention were the eco-friendly pen holders and baskets made in Sri Lanka out of recycled paper (between 12 and 16 AED each), the Turkish ceramics decorated with Whirling Dervishes and the Vietnamese bamboo kitchen bowls, but there are numerous beautiful items to discover, each one with its own story of origin.
Apart from these handicraft items, we were astonished to see several antiques on display such as cameras, compasses in leather boxes and antique radios.
This place is a weekend must-visit and will leave you feeling like you’ve stepped out of Abu Dhabi. Behind this little bric-à-brac store is a wonderful and thoughtful charity initiative that helps many people abroad receive income from the sale of these souvenirs, so now you can shop and feel good about it!
