With the thermometer rising, spending an afternoon at the beach is becoming ever more appealing. If you’re looking for turquoise waters and a stretch of sand to laze on with friends or to watch the kids play safely, we’ve discovered two new spots in Abu Dhabi to do it…
The first is Saadiyat Island (see photo), next to the Park Hyatt Hotel. It offers a 400m shore with an open and quite stunning landscape. Sustainable measures were taken to protect the existing ecosystems, including a wooden boardwalk to avoid damaging the vegetation and night closure of the beach to protect Hawksbill turtles between April and July.
The price is 25 AED per adult/ 15 AED per child (over 6 years old). Sunloungers are 50 AED on weekdays and 75 AED on weekends. Open 8 am to 8 pm.The second spot is Yas Beach, which also opened very recently. We’ve just visited (end of March 2013) and it was busy, with lots of people enjoying chilling on the sand, whilst listening to modern soundtracks and having a drink or a snack.
The price is 100 AED per adult with sun lounger and parasols included/ 50AED per child (over 8 years old). The beach is half-price on weekdays. Open 10 am to 7 pm. Both beaches are equipped with showers, bathrooms, towels, parasols, and have a lifeguard on duty.Join our WhatsApp group and receive curated news and offers in your WhatsApp Feed
