Struggling to find a good South-American eatery in Abu Dhabi? Well we have one which we can guess you have passed by several times and never spotted!
Located in Mushrif Mall, Amazonas is quite discrete compared to the colourful stands surrounding it so may be overlooked but, trust us, it’s definitely worth stopping by.
Those craving the tastes of South America will be delighted to see delicious empanadas or pabellons – a Venezuelan combo with white rice, black beans and fried plantain – on the menu as well as many other tantalizing dishes.
As we were not so familiar with the cuisine, the staff were on hand to help, spontaneously proposing we tasted their homemade drinks. We went for a fresh and reinvigorating passion fruit juice, blended right in front of us, as well as tasting the reddish karkadieh drink made out of Jamaican flowers. Their cachapas, a tasty slightly sugared pancake made from sweet corn and filled with white mozzarella-like cheese, made a nice change from the usual lunch choices.
So, next time you plan to grab a quick bite to eat at lunch time at Mushrif Mall, give Amazonas a try. It is a great cheap option and welcomed change from all the well-known brands which surround it.
