We are delighted to share with you, The Cotton Basket in Abu Dhabi. This hidden gem moved a year ago to open a brand new store in Dalma Mall. Located on the Ground Floor, The Cotton Basket accommodates a wide range of handpicked natural and chic home textiles with more than 25 collections.

 

The concept behind The Cotton Basket

If you are not familiar yet with this homegrown brand, The Cotton Basket is definitely unique in town providing an eclectic selection of artisanal home decor textiles.

Fabrics are used in their most natural form with all natural dyes and little additives. Speaking with the team, we were fascinated to learn that they work with craftsmen only using traditional block printing, dying and weaving techniques. Traveling often and across the globe to source products, and to bring to life the studio’s designs and to then check and maintain the quality of the handmade products as they are brought to life, the team makes sure every single item arriving in Abu Dhabi is a premiere range.

 

The varied collections

Browsing the boutique shelves is a pleasure as the display is coordinated by colors and shades, varying from pastels and bright colors (yellow, turquoise, pink, blue…) to neutral shades such as taupe, grey or white.

The cushion choice is impressive, from ‘ombre’ with every single piece hand dyed, to more ‘bling’ pieces that just arrived in store using golden or copper foiling or sparkling and glittering ones using beads and sequins hand stitched with both traditional or contemporary patterns. 

Used as decorative pieces or as blankets, throws and quilts, they will always add a unique touch to the home, on a bed or a sofa. Their collection range is impressive with a wide palette of colors, designs and sizes (from queen to super king).

You’ll find there some delightful bed sets for kids with charming handmade embroideries. We actually had a crush for the flamingo, palm trees or monkey on a tree that are to dye for and are reasonably priced which makes the perfect gift for a baby shower or at home for your little ones.

If you are into embroidered white cotton, you’ll be in awe checking the wide selection of table linen such as table cloths, table mats and runners, napkins, or guest towels for the bathrooms. Not only cosy, this will add warmth and a vintage touch to your home decor and is so hard to find nowadays actually. The boutique also stocks both comfy cotton night gowns with white or colorful embroideries and pyjamas for adults with a chic and elegant look.

The boutique actually has its regulars as they update their collections every three months and also offer regular promotions or sales. Worth checking out and a welcome change from the mass produced products!
