Asia’s Iconic Dishes Get the Koi Treatment on Gochiso Saturdays

Koi’s purest fans were slightly worried about this new Saturday all-Asian menu. “Stick to spot-on Japanese”, they said. But as lovers of everything we’ve ever eaten on trips across Asia, we personally thought “the more the merrier!” We love the award-winning restaurant’s adventurous spirit.

Sharing-style plates include crunchy, authentic Vietnamese prawn spring rolls, the freshest, most tender Wagyu tataki and plump sashimi, Koi’s signature maki and creamy rock shrimp tempura, and an unforgettable salmon tartare on prawn crackers. Don’t skip the palate-cleansing gado-gado from Indonesia, though – a combination of gorgeous raw and cooked vegetables served in a light peanut sauce.

Imagine being able to order continuous rounds of their famously-flawless miso marinated black cod! Enough said…

There’s a decent Thai green curry, and an alright nasi goreng, but one thing that was most heartwarming to see on the menu was pho (a beef noodle soup from Vietnam). They’re serving a beautifully authentic version of it here, which is hard to find in Abu Dhabi.

The beverages and sweet endings accompanying this really class Asian round-trip are top-notch, too. The texture-laden pear ice cream is now a firm favourite flavour.

All in all, it’s a go for Gochiso Saturdays.
