Origins Restaurant Is Ready with Food Aplenty this Ramadan
You kind of always expect a memorable experience when you rock up to the iconic Yas Viceroy in all its purple, glowing glory, don’t you? And so we already sat down to dinner with high hopes for Origins’ Iftar to impress.
The award-winning all-day dining venue is serving up all the classic Arabic delicacies you expect to find during Ramadan, but at an elevated standard across a family-style menu. As plump as the dates look, grab a traditional juice and try hard not to fill up on the hot and cold mezze – rich and creamy hummus and moutabel, glistening quality olives, fresh fattoush and tabbouleh with wonderful crunch and flavour, and the signature moist meat and seafood kibbehs scented with ample spice. Forget forks, the bread is warm, ready and plentiful.
If you’ve been to many an Iftar, it’s very easy to become uninspired by the usual mixed grills and biryanis, but there are some lively ingredients in the tawooks, tenderloins, the cutlets and kebabs here that really make them succulent. And the heaping lamb ouzi doesn’t disappoint either.
While we couldn’t stomach much more, we heard the dessert – classic hot, cheesy kunafa paired with cool baklava ice cream – was of “very Viceroy” standards as well.
