Set your table with a vintage flair
Sometimes, a few details to the home decor can make a dramatic change without breaking the bank.
We just got our hands on some very unique home accessories and crockery in a tiny boutique we hadn’t explored yet. So, if you are into vintage with a local touch and on a budget, there you go !
Al Fanar, the Emirati restaurant inside the Venetian Village has a boutique filled with different souvenirs and a few gems. Apart from the clichéd items such as the golden metal coffee pot, there are some unique and timeless items worth the trip.
First, we were amazed and nostalgic to see the Duralex-like water glasses that brought us back to our childhood memories of lunch at the cafeteria. These are usually used in the country to serve tea. Sold at 4 AED per glass for the large ones, these will be perfect in the kitchen for daily use and will definitely add some personality to your table.
We also had a crush on the old-fashioned tableware that reminded us of family celebrations with grandma. Decorated with vintage roses and a golden border and there is a wide collection comprising go different plates, bowls and platters. The plates costs between 4 to 7 AED per piece depending on their size.
If you are more into decor, the enamel kettle will be perfect either to serve tea or used as a vase. The small size is priced at 55 AED and the big tea pot costs 75AED.
Oh, and if you have some time, just stop for a quick bite or dining out at the restaurant. Visiting late night a few months ago, we had an excellent surprise discovering a busy spot filled with locals, residents and a few tourists enjoying the hearty local cuisine.
A place that is definitely worth heading to!
