Organic, plant-based and non-GMO food in Abu Dhabi.

We were among the first in Abu Dhabi to discover The Raw Place at WTC Souk in Abu Dhabi when it opened in 2014. If the name doesn’t ring a bell, The Raw Place is an Emirati brand that is 100% organic, 100% raw, vegan, GMO free…. and still very tasty!

Their project started in 2014 with cold pressed juices and dairy free milks (Almond Mylk, Cashew Mylk, Matcha Latte…) that we tasted with a one day beginner cleanse, an experience we thoroughly enjoyed. Read the article here.

The Raw Place Abu Dhabi has expanded since and they now have a new spot in the city in Al Muneera with a few tables inside and outside, facing the sea.

Meeting the CEO and founder to get some updates on their novelties, we discovered that they propose a wide selection of food from light bites, to salads, breakfasts and desserts and also superfoods that you can get in the two shops or order online.

All vegetables and fruits are organic certified and sourced locally in the UAE at Organic Oasis Farm from mid-October to end of June and it’s only during summer months that the organic ingredients are imported.

There is a variety of healthy salads (priced around 38 AED each) that are all packed in individual boxes which is quite convenient if you are on the go. Choosing a salad was quite tricky actually as there were so many recipes we were eager to experience, from the Pesto Knoodles (prepared with kelp seaweed, basil, spinach, kale, almond butter, cashews, turmeric, nutritional yeast, himalayan sea salt…) to the appetizing Nan’s Rolls (rice paper roll filled with spinach, mint, cucumbers, carrots, bean sprouts with a Shiso Miso dressing mixed with ginger, apple cider vinegar, lime and olive oil).

We opted for the Spirulina salad prepared with cherry tomatoes, beetroot, beet greens, almonds, and a unique dressing made with Spirulina, apple cider vinegar, olive oil and himalayan sea salt. Priced at 38 AED, the portion was hearty, tasted really good and we were surprised that the Spirulina didn’t overpower the salad but still added an interesting (and super healthy twist).

The Raw Place also serves a large choice of sweet options such as the Rawmisu, Lemonery Cheesecake, Mango Chia Pudding and more…

We tried the Almond Fudge (but weren’t to crazy about the flavours) and the Coconut parfait, that has crushed almonds and walnuts at the bottom, a coconut yogurt – tasting almost like a mousse – in the middle and is topped with a fresh strawberry coulis mixed with chia seeds. We liked that the top was not sweet and had a distinct strawberry taste.

Every single item sold in the shop or online mention the detailed ingredients and also the amount of GOOD calories. The idea is to kind of prove to customers that they can enjoy homemade recipes prepared with the right ingredients without compromising on the taste.

If you are into superfoods, check the selection on the walls as it’s not that easy to find bee pollen, Sacha Inchi Protein Powder, Açai Powder or Hemp Protein Powder in Abu Dhabi. We also noticed there is a wide palette of healthy light bites such as snowball truffles, chocolate truffles and nuts n’gojis.

This is a healthy spot and the website is worth bookmarking as they deliver everywhere in Abu Dhabi with a minimum order of 100 AED and 20 AED delivery fees.

An added bonus and sustainable idea if you live in the Al Bandar, Al Zeina or Al Muneera community. No delivery fees and the items are delivered by bike!
