Discover more about the sculptures at Yas Mall

Most of us living in Abu Dhabi have now driven past Yas Mall in the Capital. Apart from the huge size of the mall, the other feature that we associate with the mall is the outdoor sculpture facing the main entrance that has become a landmark.

This sculpture created by International artist Marco Cianfanelli represents a group of six falcons that take flight and we can only see each one in some specific perspective and angle only.

This enormous artwork comprises of 132 columns that are 18 meters high, and required 120 tons of steel to build. Fabricated in South Africa, it was then shipped to the UAE.

This international artist is also well known for his Nelson Mandela portrait depicted through 50 steel columns. The sculpture is located in Howith, less than a hundred kilometers South from Durban in South Africa.

Inside the mall, there are two more sculptures to discover from the same artist representing a local tree found in the United Arab Emirates called ‘ghaf tree’. If you pay attention to the details of the 12 meter high steel indoor trees, you will discover that the leaves have been modelled as calligraphy with Arabic letters.
