Get a glimpse of the essence of Mina at the Warehouse421 in Abu Dhabi

After a successful launch in November 2015, it’s time to get back to Warehouse421 – without the crowd – and enjoy discovering the various unique exhibitions exploring the history, culture, habbits of yesterday and today in the UAE.

Mina Zayed
Through The Lens of Jack Burlot
Until 19th March 2016

‘Life at Mina preserves a vital link between past and present’ – Jack Burlot

The French photojournalist Jack Burlot first came to visit Abu Dhabi in 1974 to document life in the emerging desert city. He returned after a 40 gap and captured his latest impressions of the historic Mina Zayed.

The images exhibited are unique and vibrant, focusing on the people working in Mina, capturing the daily happenings at the fish market, fish harbor, flower market, barber shop and more.

These images speak to our heart as Jack Burlot captured the essence of Mina.

1:100
the Warehouse Reimagined
Until the 23rd of January 2016

If you watch Mina from Google Earth, you see plenty of warehouses aligned in the whole area. Throughout the last decades, some have become available and are awaiting for newcomers or a transformation.

Warehouse 421 is the typical example that was redesigned from two existing warehouses by the award-winning architect cabinet BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group).

1:100 exhibition is the result of the 1:100 Design Competition where the community was invited to demonstrate how a standard warehouse could be transformed.

Different 3D warehouse models are exhibited with eclectic designs as they were submitted by applicants with diverse backgrounds: emerging artists, and architects. Visitors are invited to vote for their preferred project which makes it more interactive.

Lest we forget: Emirati family
Photographs: 1950-1999
Until 18th June 2016

This project initially started at Zayed University with a work that lasted over 5 years and involved 100 families. Through this exhibition you can discover for the first time an exclusive collection of family photographs and oral history generated by the first generations of Emirati citizens.
