Hydrafacial is worth adding to your beauty routine

We are just back from Beverly Hills Medical Center in Abu Dhabi – located in a villa close to Cafe Arabia (see location map below) – a clinic which opened a year and a half ago with a Derma department launched in 2017.

We were kindly invited to go experience their Hydrafacial treatment, a non invasive and all-in-one bespoke facial treatment that cleanses, exfoliates, extracts and nourishes your skin. Promising !

Heard about Hydrafacial and still wonder what it is about?

It’s actually a technology develop in the US a decade ago that can be defines as below :
“HydraFacial™ is the only hydradermabrasion procedure that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection simultaneously, resulting in clearer, more beautiful skin with no discomfort or downtime. The treatment is soothing, moisturizing, non-invasive and non-irritating.”

Our experience at Beverly Hills Medical Center

You will begin with a consultation to discuss your skin type and concerns in order for the therapist to decide on the type of hydrafacial treatment you will require.

The day we visited we were lucky enough to get to experience the complete treatment as the master trainer was at their center to refresh the employees’ techniques.

A usual Hydrafacial is usually processed with a maximum of 5 steps described below:

Lymphatic drainage* : The trainer first started with a lymphatic drainage that usually lasts from 10 to 15 minutes. This optional step helps reducing face puffiness and stimulates the fluid circulation.

Dermabrasion* : the wet dermabrasion uses a diamond to help polish and exfoliate our skin.

– The Hydrafacial itself started with a light cleaning exfoliation and hydration (as most impurities were removed with the dermabrasion) in order to remove dead skin cells and sebum.
– Right after, the trainer massaged our skin with a mix of salicylic and glycolic acid to help loosen deep pore debris and dirt.
– Applied for a few minutes on our face, the acid peel was quite tingly.
– Once the pores were opened, it was time for extraction and the machine used a deep and high pressure vacuum to extract blackheads and other impurities.
– After the skin was cleansed and pores opened, we got an extra boost with the derma-builder*, using a serum with peptides in order to help effectively address fine lines, skin tone evenness and texture. Others can go for britinol*, to minimize the appearance of dark spots and sun spots for an even complexion.
– Then came the fusion step where hyaluronic acid and peptides were infused to rejuvenate and nourish the skin.
– Next our skin was massaged while applying a red light* that usually helps anti-ageing.
– The treatment ended once moisturizer, eye cream and sun block were applied.
* steps described in golden color were optional

Why we enjoyed the treatment

In just an hour, you get a totally bespoke and effective high-tech facial that can address your very specific skin concerns. We saw results instantly which is always what we are looking for actually. No damage or redness afterwards which was one of our fears, especially as we went through a lot of steps including dermabrasion. Our face definitely looked and felt smoother, brighter and healthier.

Allow yourself this very special treat next time you have that special event coming up where you need to look at your very best, or then just before going away on holiday. Ideally this facial treatment should be done monthly but it is definitely expensive.

Prices start at 650 AED for a regular facial and cost between 800 to 1000AED depending on the optional adds-on you selected. Try it once and you’ll see why we are won over…
