22 countries Photoshop the same woman to make her beautiful
Journalist Esther Honig wanted to see what beauty standards were like in different cultures. But instead of buying magazines or watching movies, she decided to try an experiment.
For her Before & After project, Honig sent an unedited photograph of herself to graphic designers (some experts in their field, others amateur) in countries like Kenya, Morocco, India, the United Kingdom and Greece, hoping that each creative would source their personal perception and cultural conclusions of beauty to enhance her original image. Her one request was “make me beautiful”.
The result is a striking collection of photos of Honig’s face, blended to the cultural beauty standards of each nation. It’s amazing to see the difference between what’s considered beautiful around the world.
