Clueless about padel? Not to be confused with paddle-we tell you all!

We had to share the news because we have recently spotted padel signs by the courts in Abu Dhabi Country Club and it is quite the IT sport abroad right now.

Introduced in 1969 in Acapulco (Mexico) and widely spread across Spain and Argentina over the years, this sport is somewhere in between tennis and squash. Players practice this sport in doubles only, on a field smaller than a regular tennis court equipped with walls, fences or windows to allow the ball to bounce.

Separated by a tennis net, the two teams playing against each other use these walls that allow the ball to bounce in unexpected directions which spices up the game. No need to fear about the rules regarding scoring as they are the exact same as in tennis.

What’s special about padel?

This game is quite popular and often played while people are on holiday as with four players on the field, the games are fun with a usually friendly atmosphere.

Excellent for fitness and keeping you in shape while working the whole body, it requires a bit of cardio obviously as the ball bounces on walls and windows but still less intensity than squash.
