Live band 7-nights a week at this new venue in Abu Dhabi
A more refined version of the casual eatery, Pizza Express has just opened its doors in Abu Dhabi and it is called Jazz@PizzaExpress. Tucked away inside “The Hub” at The Mall at World Trade Center Abu Dhabi, this licensed venue has a lot to offer, including an in-house live band performing seven nights a week at the restaurant.
A casual and friendly vibe, we liked the decor and the lighting in there with dark blue leathered sofas contrasting with the white marble tables, a touch of red here and there with pepper mills on the tables. The walls are covered with black and white photographs and a few music instruments such as trumpets displayed as artworks on the walls.
Guests can either opt for private booths overlooking the expert pizza makers at work or choose a table facing the stage. There is also a large unlicensed terrace if you fancy an al fresco dinner.
Invited to experience their new menu, we promise it didn’t disappoint and warmly advise you to go check it whenever you feel like having a no-fuss and lively Italian dinner with friends or family.
Among the different dishes we were given to taste, here are some of our highlights. The warm fluffy dough balls are warm and addictive.
Shared as a starter or ordered as a main for one, the Burrata and Beef Bresaola and fig salad comes with crushed walnuts, a mix of wild rocket and baby spinach and finished with a balsamic vinaigrette.
A few new mains have been introduced lately such as the Beef short rib Risotto and the Penne Bresaola e Rucola that were both rich and creamy. But what we liked most were the new pizza recipes that go well along with their motto ” Keep it Simple”.
We really enjoyed the Margherita Bufala, an old classic that was introduced more than 60 years ago when the brand launched. It is a super thin pizza dough, covered with passata sauce, and is topped with fresh cherry tomatoes and basil, chunks of Buffalo Mozzarella. Couldn’t be more simple but it rocks!
Due to customers’s insistance, the Abu Dhabi restaurant introduced a London classic called Soho; with a thicker base, it is prepared with black olives, garlic oil and topped with wild rocket and shaved parmesan.
If you like a kick of spice, go for Pollo Forza Romana that tastes as nice as it is looks! The Arabiatta base gives the pizza a kick and comes topped with smoked paprika chicken, roquito peppers, roasted red and yellow peppers and finished with chili oil.
If you still have room for dessert and want to finish on a light note, the mango Panna Cotta is perfect and devored in no time. The chocolate addicts should opt for the homemade chocolate fondant that has a hint of orange and was a winner.
There also are many events available to book where you can actually get involved and learn how to master the pizza making technique (for adults or kids also). This was the final of our night and we thoroughly enjoyed the activity – dressed with our apron and paper chef’s hat and came back with our own handmade pizza.
