A deli that has character both in the plate and decor
Next time you have an appointment close to the Corniche and are willing to stop for a quick gourmet bite, just remember this number;1762!
Actually, 1762 is the brand name of a gourmet deli in Dubai that opened its doors and first joint in the Capital in 2017.
Ask anyone who has been living in Dubai for a while, they will both agree that 1762 is a reliable and gourmet deli to stop by at lunchtime. Well established in Dubai for a while now, they have expanded a lot over the last years with different outlets displayed in Dubai from JLT, to Jebel Ali, Media City or DIFC. We are so glad they finally made their way to Abu Dhabi which is still lacking this kind of joint.
The Abu Dhabi branch is located at the bottom of the Al Ain tower (the inclined tower in W4 block) – check the location below-.
The hardest part is to find a spot where to park in this block but we promise it’s worth being patient.
We loved the busy vibes there at lunchtime as the cafe was buzzing with many customers and welcoming smiling faces ready to prepare our order at the counter.
How does it work? Most of the products are displayed at the counter or written with their pricing on the huge black boards covering the walls. Once you are ready, just place your order by the counter, pay and take your order number with you and one team member will come and serve it at your table.
The dishes selection is wide, healthy and appetizing, with different gourmet style sandwiches, healthy cold-pressed juices or infused waters. You can also mix and match their different salads and you pay according to their size (26 aed for small and 35 AED for a medium portion).
During our visit, we opted for the poached prawn and lemon zest mayo served in a granary bread with rocket leaves (34 AED). It was very fresh and generous with prawns. The fresh fruit infused water (10 AED) – with blueberry, lemon, mint and raspberry – was refreshing, tasty and not too sweet.
We also ordered three different protein balls (18 AED) as takeaway and an appetizing sweet chili chicken and soba noodle salad served with cashews, snow peas and spring onions (25 AED for the small portion).
The laid-back rustic decor is charming with oversized and quaint chandeliers at the counter, a high communal table fitting 6 people, high chairs at the counter where to enjoy your bite on the go and a more cosy corner with sofas, cushions, green plants, books and magazines to grab and enjoy during your breakfast or lunch.
If you come for something sweet, their cake selection won’t disappoint, from huge carrot cake slices to mini banana loafs or salted maple walnut slices to name a few.
We noticed that 1762 also partnered with Zomato and if you don’t have time to visit 1762, you can still order online and enjoy their delicacies from the comfort of your desk.
Our conclusion after this first visit? We will be back soon for more to try their sweet potato salmon fish cake, or salmon and avocado nori rolls, and vegan raspberry fudge bars with almonds, cocoa nibs and cocoa.
Just be aware that 1762 The Gourmet Deli is unfortunately open only on weekdays (Friday and Saturday are off) and their opening time is also restricted to 8am to 6pm.
