Ready for a savvy stay or dining experience? There is a new world to discover at The Abu Dhabi Edition Hotel in Abu Dhabi
We felt very privileged this week to have a sneak peek at a gorgeous new property in Abu Dhabi, the first of its kind boutique-hotel in Abu Dhabi. After a tour of this new unique hotel, we are eager to book a room there for a staycation, right away! Read on and you will understand why.
The famous luxury brand EDITION HOTELS* chose Abu Dhabi to open their first property in the Region and is bringing its signature, iconic style to the UAE with this ground-breaking hotel concept.
Located in the Al Bateen area, we may have noticed this futuristic design building facing the marina and waterfront oasis, brought to life by Ian Schrager, the visionary behind contemporary luxury as we know it, in collaboration with Marriott International.
Let us guide you inside the hotel…
First impressions at the impressive lobby
The five-storey lobby is impressive with its curved atrium with a sinuously shaped balustrade. It manages to mix design, art installations, light, and you just feel like sitting in one of the cozy sofas to admire every single detail surrounding you.
On the ceiling, a large-scale kinetic art installation designed by the world-renowned Studio Drift and produced by Czech glass company, Lasvit ( there are only two in the world!). Spanning above the lounge, the artwork – made with glass cylinders connected to each other and suspended from the ceiling with invisible strings – the artwork magically moves gently as a mobile sculpture at a speed varying with the tunes. Quite incredible!
The vast lobby also pays tribute to the Region blending local architecture, patterns, and contemporary design; we noticed metallic signature dividing walls in the shape of palm tree leaves and signature armchairs by local designer, Latifa Saeed inspired by the distinctive way Emirati children braid their hair.
The styled bespoke Cavicchi gold leaf billiard table is also quite unique and feels like a focal point encouraging guests to sit and mingle.
Embracing the local architectural heritage of the Eastern tip of the Arabian Peninsula, The Abu Dhabi EDITION blends the form and details of traditional architecture as well as natural local patterns that are the inspiration for the materials, color palettes and details that feature throughout the hotel.
The Abu Dhabi Edition hotel features
The hotel welcomes 198 guest rooms and suites as well as 57 exclusive residences in a near future. We visited one of the rooms and noticed the appealing details (see images below). We also appreciated the  eco-friendly initiatives such as the glass water bottles and the fact that 80% of the hot water is provided by solar panels.
The rooms and suites feature neutral tones, sweeping views of the ocean and subtle references to Abu Dhabi through sinuous, sand dune photography by photographer Brett Weston. Guests will also discover some local brands such as Mizam chocolates, camel soaps and more.
Bathrooms are finished with white marble with contrasting brass fixtures and feature signature Le Labo amenities- an exclusive collection designed especially for EDITION HOTELS that guests can also purchase at the upcoming hotel spa.

The Lobby Atrium at the first floor
The Lobby atrium overlooks the main lobby area from the 1st floor and features a large black marble water feature with an angular geometric shape mirroring the footprint of the building. When viewed from the upper levels, the water feature is reminiscent of a starry sky on a clear night in the desert. This is flanked by lounge seating and a large communal meeting table. Lush landscaping and candlelit lanterns create an intimate atmosphere.
Three signature restaurants
We had a look at the three signature restaurants created by world-renowned chef Tom Aikens, the youngest chef ever to be awarded two Michelin stars. Chef Tom Aikens has been working in Abu Dhabi these last five weeks to train the whole restaurants’ team and he could give us some insights about the different restaurants’ philosophy. All restaurants are located on the ground floor – ALBA TERRACE, OAK ROOM, and MARKET AT EDITION – and seem to have an appealing personality – healthy spot, steakhouse or Mediterranean flavors. They offer affordable cuisine and menus designed by Chef Aikens with the best possible fresh ingredients. Plus the decor features are amazing. We can’t wait to try them out!
Â
MARKET AT EDITION
Just off the lobby, guests can find Market at EDITION, an imaginative, healthy lifestyle restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
A paradise if you are into healthy food (organic coffee, raw juices, …), are vegan, vegetarian or just feel for healthy, no waste, farm to table cooking. The restaurant setting is just incredible with floor to ceiling shelves filled with aromatic plant pots, copper accessories. Full of light, the restaurant has an immediate feel good and intimate atmosphere and will surely become your go-to spot for a gathering break with friends, any time of the day.
The pricing looked very appealing too. After our tour, we stopped there for breakfast and loved our acai bowl while another guest had a very tempting avocado toast topped with a poached egg. With its open kitchen, freshly baked pastry and bakery corner and very enticing menu, we will be back for more!
OAK ROOM
Beef lovers will certainly opt for Oak Room, a new-age steakhouse, celebrating of world-class ingredients with British rock ‘n’ roll flair. There will even be a meat-sommelier guiding guests during their dining experience. The restaurant is divided into three different dining rooms, in enfilade. It has a quintessential British style with dark wooden panels on the walls, dark green velvet sofas, oversized chandeliers making a statement in each room.
ALBA TERRACE
Â
On the Marina side of the hotel, Chef Aikens has created a serene, coastal Mediterranean-style restaurant, Alba Terrace, that transcends day-to-night, offering the finest locally sourced coffee, light lunches and sharing plates to linger over whilst bathing in the natural sunlight that streams into the space.
The indoor restaurant has a classy and contemporary refined brasserie vibe with design mirrors on the wall structuring the space, a crisp, light color palette, sheer curtains, and vibrant plants, bringing the outdoors, in.
On the outdoor terrace, a series of intimate seating areas under pavilions- some looking like mini islands surrounded by water features – provide guests with the opportunity to dine al-fresco. A lush landscape of terracotta pots and candlelit lanterns complete the intimate yet casual atmosphere of the outdoor terrace.
Â
THE LIBRARY BAR
Hidden behind heavy floor to ceiling curtains, it is an ideal place for guests looking for a quieter more intimate place to socialize.
The warm timber clad walls are filled with a collection of artworks that draws upon themes of language and the written word, in all of its marvelous literary forms. Guests can unwind in this sophisticated and intimate setting, perfect for post-work drinks, entertaining or socializing pre-dinner, chilling out seated on tufted blue velvet sofas.
