Now that the temperatures have dropped and the cozy days are ahead of us, we can’t wait to grab a warm cup of specialty coffee while out and about in Abu Dhabi. With winter weather officially in full swing, we can’t wait to discover and review new places that tick all the boxes, great atmosphere, good food and fabulous coffee!
We already have a list of places that are a mix of homegrown cafe concepts and UAE based cafes making their debut in the capital.
FOODSHED
Whenever we visit Sharjah for an art exhibition – such as Rain Room (details here), we make sure to stop at Ratios Coffee, a homegrown cafe. This summer, they opened a brand new sister shop right here in Abu Dhabi. FOODSHED, located in the Khalifa park area. It looks quite appealing to visit, with a welcoming cozy wooden decor and lovely outdoor terrace.
FOODSHED is open daily from am to pm and serves daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are many vegan options to try, a new joint on top of our list to head to.
LOCAL UAE
It looks like Al Zeina is expanding with different interesting new retail additions. LOCAL is definitely also on top of our list as this outside the box independent lifestyle concept store is not only a cafe but also a men’s barber shop and an exclusive sneaker & streetwear consignment store. Just drool over their Instagram page (see below) and you will see why this is a new spot not to be missed.

THE SURF CAFE
After opening their first cafe on Jumeirah Beach Road – see our review on Dubai Confidential here- THE SURF CAFE just opened their first outlet in Abu Dhabi located at the mall at the World Trade Center Abu Dhabi. With the surf-theme decor, we can’t wait to go have a latte there – gingerbread, beetroot or matcha latte flavors available. This spot is more than a just coffee spot and looks interesting to visit at lunchtime as the menu features a mix of tasty dishes with an Asian flair – gyozas, dim sum, as well as gluten-free, vegan and even acai and poke bowls.
Open daily from 7 am to 10 pm on weekdays and until 11 pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
MARKET AT EDITION
Market at EDITION, an imaginative, healthy lifestyle cafe & restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It is a paradise if you are into healthy food (organic coffee, raw juices, …), are vegan, vegetarian or just feel for healthy, no waste, farm to table cooking. The restaurant & cafe setting is just incredible with floor to ceiling shelves filled with aromatic plant pots, copper accessories. Full of light, the restaurant has an immediate feel good and intimate atmosphere and will surely become your go-to spot for a gathering break with friends, any time of the day.
The pricing looked very appealing too. We stopped there for breakfast and loved our acai bowl while another guest had a very tempting avocado toast topped with a poached egg. With its open kitchen, freshly baked pastry and bakery corner and very enticing menu, we will be back for more!
Market at Edition is located inside the the boutique hotel in Abu Dhabi called The Abu Dhabi Edition.

YAMANOTE
After opening a kiosk at Al Seef Mall, YAMANOTE has expanded and opened a brand new cafe just a few meters away – where COLD STONE used to be.
Fans of Japanese bakeries and sweets can rejoice as you can try the famous cheese tarts or the fluffy cheesecakes and much more.

SANDERSONSÂ CAFE
If you have lived in the UAE for a while, you have certainly already heard of Tom & Serj, The Sum of Us and Common Grounds that are all successful homegrown cafe concepts in Dubai. Serj (co-founder of Tom and Serj) decided to launch his own outlet in Abu Dhabi that opens its doors on the 9th of November. This familiar name – Sergio Lopez – plans to conjure up an easy going, neighborly vibe representing a brand new café focusing on sustainable, wholesome mood-food.
Located in The Walk at Al Seef Resort & Spa by Andalus Abu Dhabi, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, Sanderson’s focuses on nutritious, sustainable and wholesome food using good quality, seasonal ingredients cooked from scratch daily – specifically for the sole purpose of transforming the customer’s mood. Backed by a strong belief that the food we eat can have a powerful effect on health and state of mind, Sanderson’s prides itself on its unique, considered recipes and dishes to showcase each ingredient whilst delivering health benefits and maximizing flavors. Expect colorful yet natural, wholesome dishes including the vibrant Pineapple Smoothie Bowl, the classic Beef Burger with a twist and the beautiful Veggie Rice Paper Wrap with tamarind.

L’ETO CAFFE
Visiting this spot at The Galleria mall was certainly one of our post-summer obsessions. L’ETO CAFFE is more than just a cafe, it is a must-visit restaurant serving wholesome homemade salads, vegan and meat options that are all just as delicious as they look.
If you have a sweet tooth, just find a partner to go experience the sweet options from their very appealing and wide dessert corner. It looks gorgeous and is worth a stop! L’ETO CAFFE has two locations in Abu Dhabi: at the Galleria Mall at Al Maryah island at Yas mall – but we favor visiting the Galleria as the restaurant is wider and looks super cozy.

APTITUDE CAFE
Looking for an excuse to wander longer around Louvre Abu Dhabi and get the perfect Instagram shot at sunset after visiting the museum? Well, take advantage of the cool weather to spend time in the museum park nearby that now also has a brand new cafe called APTITUDE CAFE. This name may sound familiar as it is the second outlet in Abu Dhabi. There is another APTITUDE Cafe close to Al Nahyan camp downtown.
Their different iced latte – saffron, rose… – are worth the visit!
PARALLEL CAFE
Another specialty café that we plan to visit soon! Located close to Al Wahda mall, Parallel Café opened its doors in October in Abu Dhabi. It seems to have a feel-good vibe with white tables, light wooden chairs, rattan accessories and hanging seats that all adding a relaxing and natural feel to the cafe.
This specialty cafe is still in its soft opening.
Open daily from 11 am until 8 pm and 1 pm to 9 pm on Fridays.

NOTESCAFE
If you are around Khalifa Park, there is another new option to go check out called Notescafe. The spot offers a variety of different coffees-from cafe latte to Spanish, Charcoal, Matcha and more.
