Winter wonderland in Abu Dhabi
Let’s face it, no matter how many decorations we hang and mince pies we eat, Christmas in the UAE just isn’t the same without snow. This year, however, children (and adults) bewailing the lack of snowfighting and snowman-building opportunities have a treat in store at Yas Marina promenade, which has been transformed into a winter wonderland for the festive season.
From the start of December a month of festive celebrations will unfold and everyone is invited to go along and take part, starting with a carol singing performance by the Brighton College choir at 5pm on December 4. Santa, of course, will be making regular visits to the promenade, though he will make a departure from his usual reindeer-drawn sledge and arrive by boat.
Little ones can dress up to meet their favourite Disney characters from the animated movie ‘Frozen’ at the Frozen Party on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 December while grown-up can fill the stockings and load up on gifts at the Winter Market on December 13.
By far the most exciting part of all this though, is the Snow Fight Zone, where all age groups are invited to come and take part in the time-honoured Christmas tradition of pelting their friends and families. The snowballs fight zone is open daily from 12 to 7pm until the 3rd of January 2015.
What better way to spread the seasonal cheer?
