Kids are back to school, and once you have rearranged uniforms, after-school activities, fitness routine, filled the fridge, you may want to figure out an activity for yourself. We have handpicked some cool activities around town and the cherry on top is that they are free.

Apart from the usual visits of Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Heritage Village, an early morning walk on the Corniche, walking through the buzzing Mina markets, we have new stuff to share to fill up your me-time!

Visit the current two exhibitions at Warehouse 421
It’s no secret we love that Warehouse 421 building designed by the world acclaimed young architect Bjarke Ingels (we highly encourage you to visit this cultural center at Mina Port Zayed that he designed  few years ago) and there are currently  two exhibitions there that you can enjoy for free:

  • Redefining space, between borders at Warehouse 421

Between the 8th and the 30th of September 2018

“Cuadro Fine Art Gallery is presenting artworks by Camille Zakharia. While the photographic collage works carry a fluid abstract characteristic on the surface, upon close reflection, subtle patterns composed of specific signifiers and symbols begin to emerge on the surface, reflecting the artist’s itinerary journey away from his native land, and his attempt to find harmony within the boundaries of places he calls Home.”

  • Community and Critique: SEAF 2017/2018
    COHORT 5

Between the 8th of September and the 4th of November 2018

“This exhibition represents a culmination of a year-long engagement in the Salama bin Hamdan Emerging Artists program (SEAF).  The Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation (SHF), in partnership with the Rhode Island School of Design, welcomes a group of emerging artists from across the UAE to participate in this unique educational program designed to encourage and foster artistic growth and development.”

  • Enjoy a sunrise bike tour at Hudaryat Island
You have driven around Al Bateen beach area and have seen this beautiful new bridge called Hudayriat Bridge. Well, it’s now open and leads to the Hudayriat island that has fantastic biking and running tracks all around the island (loops of 5 and 10 km actually). We agree temperatures are still too warm for an afternoon ride but some of you may feel like waking up earlier one day to just ride close to the sea, enjoy the sea breeze and bearable outdoor temperatures while exercising. Sounds like a plan!

When the days will get cooler, this recreational island will also be worth visiting to enjoy beach time. The Hudayriat Beach (with a lifeguard on the site) features four football fields, four volleyball courts, four basketball courts, four tennis courts, two beach football fields, two beach volleyball courts, and an open garden.
