Abu Dhabi is changing at a lightning pace, with new restaurants springing up on every corner on what seems like a daily basis. If you feel a bit overwhelmed by the choice (and we know we sometimes do), why not stick to one of the city’s oldest and most trusted restaurants?

Lebanese Flower Food has become an Abu Dhabi institution – and although the décor is basic with zero thrills, the food is reassuringly constant.

This is the perfect place to bring visitors if they want to try a perfectly executed Shawarma. We also love the Shish Taouk, with succulent pieces of chicken that are crying out to be dipped in the intense garlic sauce to fully enjoy it. Our final choice (although not one to try if you want a lighter meal) is the Shawarma Meat on a Plate; one of the eatery’s classic dishes.

The service is fast and efficient, but Lebanese Flower starts getting crowded around dinnertime so we recommend heading there on a weekday for lunch.
