WE’VE FOUND A NEW PLACE FOR AL-FRESCO DINING IN THE CAPITAL

Balcon Terrace is offering an al-fresco place to chill, eat and make the most of the cooler weather.

We were intrigued by the interactive menu at Balcon Terrace, Southern Sun Hotel, which can you follow on Instagram Balcon Insta Menu.

We’d checked it out earlier, so our mouths were watering before we even arrived at the restaurant.  Once we were ready to order, we showed the server the images of what we wanted, and it was delivered to our table.

The venue has lovely cabanas surrounding a water feature centrepiece, illuminated by neon lighting.  There are cosy little nooks where you can grab a table for a little more privacy if you want it.

The Asian inspired menu contains many Japanese dishes which make up the bulk of items.  Nano plates start at a very reasonable AED12 and include potli samosa, which have tasty thick pastry and flavourful Indian spices.  They also have dishes such as pandan leaf chicken and octopus carpaccio.

Amongst their maki and sushi/sashimi dishes you’ll find surf and turf, California maki and sashimi moriwase – 12 pieces of salmon, tuna, octopus and roasted eel.

If you’re looking for something more substantial there are many mains to share including, pad Thai with lobster and shrimps, or crispy congee lamb.
