This Los Angeles based concept makes its debut in Abu Dhabi
It is no secret Al Muneera plaza is a place we love getting back to as it has that relaxing holiday feel. With Hanoi, The Raw Place, Leopold’s of London, Lilie’s, Vasa Vasa, Meylas or the concept store Minbart, there is always something that has us back there!
That’s why we were eager to go visit a brand new restaurant called Berri’s UAE. Located at the first floor of the plaza, with a strategic position overlooking both the plaza, pedestrian promenade and the sea, we loved the elegant decor at first sight. Brass shelves filled with books, pineapples, trinkets, brass pipes and bulbs on the ceiling, dark green leather sofas and light grey marble tables… the restaurant is bright with a sleek and uber-trendy decor.
After browsing the menu, we liked that they offered varied menu options without being overwhelming. The menu is actually divided in salads, starters, pasta, pizza, entrees, desserts and mocktails – and mainly focuses on recipes with an Italian flair.
Invited to experience this new restaurant, we picked a few appealing dishes and noticed they were fairly priced – with salads around 40AED to 65 AED and pizza ranging between 55 and 85 AED.
For our starters, we went for a colorful and ideal summer dish-burrata cheese salad that came with yellow and red cherry tomatoes. We really enjoyed the Meat Balls Al Forno, prepared with veal and beef and Parmesan. They were served with a flavorful and comforting marinara sauce. Just lovely !
For our mains, we couldn’t help ourselves and ordered their signature Lobster Pizza. Priced at 85 AED, it is actually prepared with shrimps, lobster cream sauce and mozarella cheese. The dough was quite thin, the lobster sauce had its distinct flavor and this seafood and pizza association actually paired well. A dish we enjoyed and devored in no time.
We were slightly less convinced with the burger patty and will certainly stick to their Italian recipes at our next visit as there are many options to explore.
We skipped the desserts but they have some Italian classics as the Tiramisu or Panna Cotta priced at 35 AED. Instead, we had ordered The Glow, one of their bespoke juices prepared with beets, cucumber, pineapple and lemon. Not too sweet, refreshing and packed with vitamins.
Definitely a casual new restaurant to add to your go to list next time you plan an outing in Al Raha area.
