Want to challenge and surprise your tastebuds? This Brunch is the one to try!

Brunching around in Abu Dhabi gives us ‘déjà vu’ as it is quite often about large buffet, seafood, massive choice of savory and sweet bites and more… So, if you are looking for something different for a Friday afternoon that awakens your tastebuds, read on as we have good news to share!

When we heard that Tamba – our personal favorite Indian inspired restaurant in the city – was launching a brunch, we were first on the list to attend. Why? Tamba proposes a glimmering cuisine that is not only beautiful to look at, but always gets your tastebuds excited. Cherry on the top: all this comes in a contemporary setting and it is a pleasure to get more insight and details about the cuisine as the whole team is very cool and knowledgeable.

So, upon arrival, all brunch goers are directly led to the outdoor terrace – weather is just perfect for this right now – and the house DJ is already on duty playing tunes that add a relaxing and trendy vibe.

Georges who looked after our table brought us the lazy lunch menu before explaining the whole process of their newly launched concept. So, basically, you just need to sit back and enjoy the different dishes coming one by one at a slow pace to your table and take time to unwind while your palate is challenged with new flavors, spices and unknown savors and food pairing.

Your only duty of the day? Choose some Tamba concoctions among the mocktails and cocktails list and grab a main dish among the 9 different signature main courses of the menu. Vegans and vegetarians are not forgotten as there are 3 different options on the menu among the main courses.

We first started with a selection of 5 different bites that came one after the other to the table with breaks to give us time to enjoy each dish.  We won’t unveil all the details and will just focus on two of these bites that grabbed our attention. It was our first time trying fried idli macroons – fried balls prepared with rice batter – served with a coriander and coconut chutney. Lovely finger food!

We also loved the quinoa, barley and imli glazed chicken. At first, this salad just looks like a plain salad and you have to dig into it to discover the hidden ingredients : the quinoa and flavorful chicken glazed with tamarind.

Moving onto a series of 6 different street snacks, we had a crush for all the different bouchees we were given to try ! The tandoor stuffed mushrooms topped with emapana melting cheese, the tender lamb sheekh kebab were a pure delight for the eyes and the palate.

Bombay Bhaji Rolls Creamy Empana

The refreshing ‘delhi mix, quinoa smokey mess’ makes a statement when coming to the table with nitrogen liquid along.

Our most favorite was the Bombay Bhaji roll served with creamy aampanna which tasted like a stuffed cannelloni. For every bite you get to try, you feel the love of the Tamba chefs as there is an explosion of flavors and all dishes look like colorful artworks. What is also interesting in this lazy lunch is some of the bites and dishes are not available on the A la carte Tamba menu and were just created for the lazy Friday lunch.

After a break, we got to try our chosen signatures dishes. We couldn’t help and come back to our personal favorites: the smoked chicken served in a tomato gravy and black pepper burrata while our partner in crime went for the vegetarian ‘okra kurkure, Lababdar’, which was light and crispy.

If you still have room for desserts, you won’t be disappointed as a medley comes to the table including the now famous “Break up” – one of Tamba’s signature dessert on the menu prepared with dark chocolate mousse, peanut semifreddo, salted caramel and chocolate mousse -different ice creams and a banana toffee cake.

Lastly, we must say that this brunch pricing looks very fair compared to the food experience you get. It is priced at 195++ per person for the non alcoholic and 295++ for the alcoholic version. Prices are then subject to 10% service charge and 5% VAT.

Every Friday, from 12.30pm to 4.00pm
