BlackSmith Coffee now open in Abu Dhabi
Just when you feel you have rounded up your fave coffee shops in the city, Abu Dhabi offers more. Our latest find? BlackSmith Coffee located on Saadiyat Island close to NYUAD (New York University campus in Abu Dhabi) should be on your to do list.
Open 7 days a week (timings and location map below), this new cafe – two of the co-founder are actually former students at NYUAD – has already its regulars from the university campus residents and we envy they have this coffee shop at their doorstep.
The spot is huge, with a minimalist and modern outlook – Scandinavian design for the furniture, light wood tables pairing well with a mix or dark & light grey or black colors – aplenty light bringing in nice energy vibes and a green wall at the back… we love it all!
No real kitchen and menu, it ‘s more a high-end cafeteria with some of our favorite suppliers in the city filling the cafe shelves, such as Nolu’s, The Raw Place or Gossip for the pastries.
A one-stop spot, where you can either grab some fresh food and bites (almond protein bars, organic dehydrated dragon fruit… ) either for take-away or dine-in; it is quite convenient with hassle-free parking as there are a couple of parking spots along the street.
The coffee lovers can also buy a variety of freshly roasted coffee beans at the cafe. Actually, “Blacksmith imports the finest beans from the most selective farms worldwide, crafting the Emirate’s most exceptional coffee through in-house roasting and brewing, utilizing innovative technologies and artisanal methods” and they have their own roastery located in Mina Zayed.
There is room for any kind of indulgence, from cold pressed juices by The Raw Place, to healthy freshly prepared salads and sandwiches (kale caesar wrap, quinoa wrap… ) or healthy bites freshly prepared by Nolu’s (granola, quinoa or coconut parfait… ).
The pastries looked too tantalizing not to taste, so we went for a coffee streusal and a chocolate raspberry square; both were lovely! There is a large variety with cardamon shortbread, oatmeal lemon bar, banana or date bread , date muffin or rose croissant…
A great inspiring spot to visit whether for sharing a coffee with friends, for a business meeting or just to work outside from home. Their long communal table was already filled with customers busy working on their laptops while sipping a coffee.
