The perfect option for a fiesta to remember
Where will brunch goers head to this winter in Abu Dhabi ? You will most probably meet some of them at Toro ToroAbu Dhabi as they have just launched their Friday Brunch in December.
We were invited to visit Toro Toro Abu Dhabi for their very first Friday brunch and it made our day. We highly recommend you to go try it for yourself, especially if you love gourmet Pan Latin cuisine, are attentive to decor and design, and also enjoy a warm and festive atmosphere as you’ll find it all there.
Toro Toro Abu Dhabi opted for the formula we actually prefer, where many different dishes are sent to your table at your own pace, which allows you to discover and taste some of their signature dishes.
If you prefer picking gourmet bites and nibbles from different food stations, Toro Toro also has different live stations serving taco, ceviche and fresh salad or dessert stations.
A feel good decor and atmosphere for a lazy and foodie Friday
Since we first visited in October, we were hooked with the colorful decor that reminded us of Cuba and South America with bright and oversized cactus in large pots, oversized chandeliers and wonderful trinkets displayed around that add a warm and homely vibe to the decor …
Visiting the restaurant during the day gives a holiday vibe as you feel like on a cruise ship with sea views through the large floor to ceiling windows. The resident Cuban band playing live and followed by the in house DJ, both add a light and joyful atmosphere.
Lastly we noticed and really appreciated the way the Toro Toro team was looking after every customer, ready to accommodate any of our needs without being overwhelming.
Start off the brunch with the tasty nibbles at the live stations
If like us you like nothing more than getting into the brunch mode by sipping a mocktail or cocktail while sharing a few tapas and starters, then this is the place to be. There were aplenty different nibbles to enjoy, from avocado, punta or chicken tacos to different ceviche (seafood, salmon) or the ceviche de Huachinango (our personal fave prepared with seabass, orange juice and leche de Tigre).
If you want to try something more refreshing, go for the signature salad corner with the Toro Toro salad or their watermelon salad.
A feast of Pan Latin dishes coming to your table
Of course guacamole is first brought to the table and perfectly pairs with the nibbles you get at the live stations. We adored the typical sweet corn bread served warm at the table in a cast iron pan. Right after the table was filled with warm cachapas – tiny sweet pancakes filled with halloumi and mozzarella – and tasty empanadas.
Don’t hesitate to make a pause and do refrain yourself from visiting the live stations too many times, as there is still more to come with the mains. You get different skewers and juicy meats from the charcoal grill to try including rib eye steak, achiote marinated chicken, lamb chops or prawns.
Portions are well sized – nor too small or too big – and varied so you can decide to skip some while indulge in your favorites. We couldn’t help but finish the sweet potato fries and were less convinced with the potato 3 ways – mashed potato topped with crushed chips and grilled potatoes.
The corner for sweet tooth lovers
If you still have room for dessert, go check their passionfruit flan as the passionfruit flavor adds a delightful kick and is perfect to finish this lavish feast on a light and sweet note. Our second favorite of the day! There is much more to enjoy and experience including a coconut flan, their Tres Leches, Dulche de Leche or appetizing plate of fresh cut fruits.
The Pricing and practical details
The non-alcoholic package is a cool AED 295 per person, whilst those who opt for the house beverages and signature cocktails package pay AED 445 per person. The traditional champagne brunch package is also available at AED 545 per person.
We also discovered guests can directly access Toro Toro Abu Dhabi restaurant without going through Jumeirah Etihad Towers. Once exiting the tunnel and arriving close to the Etihad Towers entrances, take the first alley on the right and drive till the end.
You will see the imposing two white bull statues and the hard-to-miss door entrance right there.
