Have you met a Kung Fu Tea Master before? – Head over to Shang Palace
Yummy Chinese food and a Kung Fu Tea Master is what you will find at this Abu Dhabi restaurant.
We got to try out the new menu at Shang Palace at Shangri La, Abu Dhabi from two Michelin Star executive chef, Mansour Memarian. It features some authentic Chinese specialities that you would find in the mainland, as well as different styles of cooking so that you can experience typical Chinese sharing dishes.
The menu is offering new soups, including a spinach and pumpkin soup that is presented with an unusual ying/yang design, roast Beijing duck, Singapore-style braised mud crab as well as wok fried turbot fish.
There are also the traditional rice and noodle dishes, of which the mushroom pulled noodles are a must try – next time we would order those alone as they were delicious and didn’t need anything to accompany them (even though the dish is an accompaniment itself!)
Desserts are innovative and include a honeycomb cake in avocado salsa, which really worked together. The avocado tasted like custard.
A fun element to the night was the Kung Fu Tea Master, who dances around with his flamboyant teapot with an extra long spout, whilst he pours tea into a cup from more than an arm’s length away.
