Come enjoy seafood and just unwind at this ultimate chilled Saturday
When we received an invitation to visit SATURLAZE – the latest concept released by Beach Rotana at FINZ – we were eager to try. Already fans of this on-the-water restaurant with a holiday vibe, we were excited at the idea of spending a lazy Saturday lunch – it starts at 2pm and stops 6pm – in such a fancy location.
Arriving around 2.30pm, a few tables were already occupied and we saw a few couples and families coming throughout the afternoon to enjoy the concept. Comfortably settled inside Finz at a table facing the beach and the sea, the team briefed us about the way it worked and we confirm we definitely enjoyed spending a lazy Saturday there.
Your only commitment for the afternoon is to make two decisions : first the package with the Classic (including water, soft drinks and mocktails) or the Elaborate (with water, prosecco and grapes) and your main course. For the rest, just indulge and relax with the house DJ handling the background atmosphere.
After a glass of Italian sparkling grape, we were brought different flavoured homemade breads including seaweed, black ink squid, dried tomato bread or French baguette complimented by butter and salt flakes.
Soon after, came a two-tier seafood tray filled with oysters, mussels, large cooked shrimps to enjoy with different sauces. The chefs also prepared seafood creations such as a salmon ceviche, a crab cocktail and a tuna tartare – our favorite – topped with a refreshing Peruvian amarillo sauce.
Before the mains, we absolutely loved the seafood stew bourride, a tomato fish soup with served fresh calamari, shrimp and mussel and accompanied with a garlic toast and the typical Mediterranean “rouille” sauce on the side. This hearty and flavorful soup was a winner and drifted us into holiday memories by the Mediterranean seaside.
For the mains, we chose the stone bass and the cod fish which were both tender and well cooked. Different cast iron pots came to the table filled with healthy greens and sides, such as a tabbouleh salad, brown rice along with our favorite, a couscous prepared with pine nuts, dry raisins and mixed herbs. You are spoilt for choice to best enjoy your grilled fish with lime, lemon, salsa verde sauce or a tahini yogurt sauce.
Once you are ready for sweets, the team brings a selection for you to try including vanilla mini cone ice creams, chocolate and strawberry miniature macaroons and a salted caramel eclair. The eclair is the dessert we less fancied as the dough pastry was quite different to what we were used to.
What we liked most is you get what you went for : spending a delightful and versatile Saturday afternoon enjoying seafood at its best in a classy and holiday like decor! The team is very attentive without being overwhelming.
This is a seafood spot to get that summer vibe and holiday feel without leaving the Capital …
