THE ROBATA JAPANESE RESTAURANT NOW IN ABU DHABI

Japanese Restaurant, Inakaya in Abu Dhabi is the new must-try and is located at the Venitian village inside the Ritz-Carlton Complex.

There are only 3 other Inakaya restaurants worldwide (New-York, Hong-Kong and Tokyo) and now Abu Dhabi is the lucky host to this established and well-known brand that first started in Tokyo more than 30 years ago.

Known for its “Robata-yaki” style that stands for “fireside-cooking”, Inakaya focuses on grilling freshly delivered ingredients (daily catch fish, seafood, meat or veggies) that are displayed and cooking them in front of the customers.

Seated at the robata counter, we met our assigned cook that was dressed in a traditional kimono. He kindly accustomed us with the menu and the robata concept. So, following his advice, we went for the typical meal that usually starts with a salad, grilled veggies followed by grilled meat or fish.

We opted for a fresh seared tuna salad that was colorful and fresh. Our grilled asparagus and eringi mushrooms were perfect to start off the hot dishes before having a grilled whole squid that came thinly sliced and was almost caramelized in the “tare” sauce. The “Tsukune” skewers of natural free corn-fed chicken was also a flavorful dish.

If you ‘re more into sashimi, nigiri and rolls, no worries as the menu offers a wide range of these delicacies and our deluxe sashimi assortment was beautifully presented.  We ended our dinner on a sweet touch with chocolate-peanut butter mochi and the traditional green tea mochi.

This is a new concept worth trying in town and we especially appreciated the joyful spirit and the relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
