Mama Tani Cafe in Abu Dhabi serves freshly baked traditional ‘Khameer’ bread – regular and whole wheat – with different sweet and savoury toppings including dates, saffron-flavoured cream and crushed pistachios or nutella and almonds for the little ones.  The extensive drinks menu has everything from simple coffees to the regional mixed Karak tea to the exotic Hot and Cold Camel Chocolate or the delicious cold rose pista (rose and pistachio milk smoothie).

The traditional décor with a twist of contemporary is homely and appealing and you really feel like you are visiting a local Emirati tent. The rolled bed cover lamps are a design treat worth admiring.

Given the café’s Emirati theme and menu, we think Mama Tani Café – which means second mama in Arabic – has an edge over the ever-growing list of new cafes in Abu Dhabi.

Worth a visit when you want to try something different.
