Experience the Lunch Express option at Market Kitchen Abu Dhabi
The Market Kitchen opened its doors in Abu Dhabi right before summer. Located in Le Royal Meridien, a 5 star hotel that has been totally revamped, this new eatery is worth a visit.
The concept behind this restaurant (Market by Jean Georges Vongerichten) is often described as “A hotel as home”. It has met success worldwide, in cities like New York, Vancouver, Bora Bora, Doha and that’s why we really eager to visit and what the buzz was all about.
We tried their Lunch Express Menu which allows guests to be in out in just an hour. This spot is a treasure trove for foodies without breaking the bank (2 courses for 90 AED per person, 110 AED for three courses per person). We usually don’t like using too many superlatives but we fell for everything-food, decor and ambiance.
Topped with basil salt and served with a refreshing lemon and rosemary dip, the crispy calamari will stay long in our memory as it was divine!
The sea bream we ordered as a main came from the local Mina Fish Market in the morning and was served with carrot confit, cumin and olive oil.
The Market cheeseburger was served with a truffle mayonnaise and brie cheese and the side of mashed potatoes even beat our mum’s legendary recipe.
The dessert section was quite appealing and the Market Cheesecake with poached figs and raspberry sauce was delicious. The salted caramel ice cream sundae with peanuts and popcorn, topped with chocolate fudge sauce is one of the favorites on the menu.
The urban decor with grey, brownish tones is contemporary and warm at the same time. The white and vintage crockery handpicked from UK and France covering a two-floor wall inside the restaurant is a pure joy if you are into decoration. We guarantee you will disconnect and relax for an hour, enjoying recipes, a great bespoke playlist and overlooking the huge olive tree in the restaurant.
As the menu changes every week, there’s no doubt we’ll find an excuse to be downtown at lunchtime very soon.
