 The Catch Abu Dhabi motto? “At Catch, fish is the star of the plate!” … Ours would be “Every bite is a piece of happiness”.

Located by the beach on the Corniche, next to where Asia de Cuba used to be, Catch Abu Dhabi has become a safe bet over the years.

Visiting an exhibition at Nation Towers during the festive season (details here), we were very lucky to attend a dinner at Catch afterwards. If you have never been there, just follow the signs inside Nation Towers mall – take an elevator facing the beach and bringing you downstairs -walk through the tunnel of the St Regis hotel crossing over to the Corniche which leads you to the pedestrian alley where Catch is.

You cannot miss the building: a sophisticated white villa with two floors resembling those  vibrant holiday houses you usually see in decor magazines – think Louisiane, Seychelles.

If just like us, you visit Catch in wintertime, don’t think twice and sit on the outdoor terrace – many options available for a romantic table, lounge sofas, large communal tables outdoors. Weather is just perfect for dining at the terrace, with the beach nearby, Marina mall and its surroundings lighting at the background and the illuminated Abu Dhabi Corniche skyscrapers on the side. Can’t get any better!

The Chef put together a delightful sharing style feast for us-the best way to get a full taste of the food, in our opinion- and we were once again blown away by the presentation, quality of the ingredients and flavors.

The menu can be quite overwhelming and everything looks very tempting . So, in case it may help, these are – for each category – starters, mains, and desserts – our absolute favorites of all times that we beg you to experience next time you book a table at Catch.

The starters we always go for

The Blow-torch Dynamite roll 
Since the very opening, this roll, served warm always comes first in our order and it is actually one of their signature dishes – we even heard guests go there any time of the day just for it- and we believe it is not just a rumor!  Prepared with salmon, yellow tail and tuna, the roll is deep-fried for a few seconds like tempura and served warm topped with a delicate crab mousseline and pistachio splinters. Gorgeous blue and purple colors, crispy at first and soft inside, this is our savory version of refined black chocolate.

The Fried Spicy Prawns
An absolute winner the prawns come arranged in a pyramid shape surrounded by spicy grilled cashews. The combination works and it is perfect to share at the table.


These are our essentials when it comes to mains that will please everyone

The salmon miso marinated and the glazed black cod are two firm favorites but we must admit we have a special preference towards the Australian wagyu tenderloin that comes with tiny mushrooms. The jus and flavors infusing the tenderloin slices are to die for.

Even after a second thought, we couldn’t shorten our top favorite desserts list!

If we eliminate mochi from this list – which is hard given we actually always order some and only select their signature desserts, you will surely have a blast if you are into chocolate. We tried for the very first time their chocolate fondant and we promise we wiped the plate clean in no time.

The coconut dessert is quite interesting mixing various textures, flavors and is a light and fresh sweet option to end the dinner. Displayed inside a coconut shape body, you first have to break the chocolate crust and start digging into the layered dessert. Tiny mango and tapioca pieces bring you back to your childhood, coconut pannacotta along with passion emulsion, it is one of their new signature desserts to check out.

The Chef at Catch warned us he has worked hard lately and will soon reveal new additions to the menu. So, if you happen to visit before we head there back again, please share your new faves with us!

One last advice, Catch Abu Dhabi also proposes another indulgence we go for now and then, which is a gem we haven’t shared yet: their business lunch is great, as it allows you to taste their cuisine in a set menu at very fair pricing, given the quality of the dishes. Catch ‘s 3-course business lunch engages both seafood and beef lovers for a quick yet sumptuous lunch experience. Available from Sunday to Thursday – 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm.
