Next time you wish to indulge yourself with gourmet delicacies on a Friday, Andiamo Brunch should be one of the fancy spots to add on your to do list.
Roberto’s Abu Dhabi that opened recently in the Capital just launched their Friday Italian affair and it’s worth every bite! Kindly invited to join their inaugural Friday brunch, the waitress first took us for a tour and explained how to proceed. You can start by helping yourself with oysters at the Crudo bar, get your selected antipasti and main served at the table and can enjoy the lavish dessert buffet in the lounge area.
Comfortably seated at the indoor terrace (closed for the day due to strong winds), we first started with oysters available at the Crudo station while checking the tantalizing menu.
You actually get to choose between three Antipaste options (Mare, Terra or Mixti) and we opted for the Mare and Terra to get the full Antipasti overview.
Through the course of an hour, the Roberto’s team keeps on filling the table with refined hot and cold antipasti and it looks like a battle between seafood and meaty antipaste.
We personally adored the Mare selection with six different nibbles to enjoy including the refreshing Tartare di Tonno (sushi grade tuna tartare with sesame seeds and avocado) and Trilogia di Crostacei (crab, lobster, king prawns with a light seafood sauce), the delicate Baccala Mantecato (creamed codfish), warm appetizers such as a scallop gratin or fried calamari. Our preference went for the Polpo, a signature dish in Roberto’s menu as the slow cooked roasted octopus paired very well with the artichoke.
Terra also comes with 6 antipasti that combine different winning options such as the melti in the mouth Parmagiana (baked eggplant layers of mozzarella, tomato and basil sauce) the signature Tartare di Manzo prepared at the table with Wagyu beef tartare or the slow cooked artichoke with burrata that were our favorites.
This Antipaste Gigante was accompanied with a freshly baked Margharita as Roberto’s Abu Dhabi considers this Friday fiesta is not complete without a traditional pizza.
Before moving on to our selected main course, you get to try a comfort course of Fettuccine Cacio e Pepe and Mushroom Risotto served at the table. This is another highlight of this new brunch as the risotto served at the table in a parmesan huge wheel is to die for ! A feast for the eye and the palate.
Choosing the mains is not easy given the tantalizing Secondi with a total of nine dishes consisting of fish, meaty or vegetarian lovers. Our Pesce Bianco – charcoal grilled chilean seabass served on mashed potatoes) was a winning pick. The confit duck leg served with apples had us less convinced.
Moving to the lounge area, you finish your brunch in a relaxed way seated in comfy canapes overlooking the sea. If you are a dessert lover, we promise the buffet won’t disappoint as Roberto’s Abu Dhabi proposes traditional sweet Italian treats which hit again our tastebuds. Tiramisu, Cassata, panna cotta, Amaretto Biscotti mille-feuille are some of the delights the Pastry team came up with.
What we liked overall is that the portions are sophisticated and well calibrated allowing you to indulge in every single bite. As the restaurant is not too big, it offers a welcoming and intimate atmosphere while the whole professional and friendly Roberto’s team makes sure every single guest spends an excellent moment.
